Visited here by chance with some friends. Nice upmarket feel pub, great beer garden with grass and play area for kids. Food was overall ok, service was a bit slow.
Went for lunch the other day. I had the scampi and the other half had the cheese & onion pie which was huge. Chips were great too. Lovely and cosy with fires going in every cove. Would definitely go again
Nice feeling to the place and good food with good portion and good price. Was great to see chips were not mandatory like so many meals out. Staff friendly and obviously get along making it very pleasant.
For a 20 minute ride out of Manchester to the Cheshire countryside, we found a 2 hour walk and this amazing pub for food afterwards. Steeped in history, thatched roof, immaculately clean with such polite and friendly staff this is certainly a Robinsons you have to visit. It dates back to the 1500's and was even visited by Royalty which the pub proudly displays. The walk was as stroll with beautiful scenery, lakes, lambs and even a radio telescope! After the walk we had booked a table for the Smoker and a lovely lady ( from Chester ) and also a Liverpool fan, her customer service was the best I've had in a very long time, she was happy to talk, gave recommendations on food and beers, it was an amazing visit. Spotlessly clean indoors and outdoors with plenty of parking and a huge beer garden. Next time your looking for a place to visit, I highly recommend the walk followed by lunch and a drink at the Smoker. Thanks to all the staff for a warm and friendly welcoming and truly amazing food, we shall be back.
The Smoker looks great after the recent renovation, but still retains its quaint, welcoming old coach House feel. The menu was superb. We each had something from the specials board, mine was chicken with potato cakes, topped with a mustard sauce. The food was excellent value, well presented and was really tasty. The staff were very accommodating and friendly, great beer selection. I'd recommend the smoker to anyone wanting a meal out with friends or family.
