Some previous reviews haven't been good but I can only go on my experience. The staff were friendly and took our bags in as we were too early to check in. The family room (on the 5th floor) we had was quiet, clean and perfectly adequate for our needs. The local area is not the best but probably not unlike any other city centre.
The lady who checked us in was very lovely and helpful however, the staff we saw after her were quite rude and blunt. The room was a good size and very clean. The bathroom smelt very damp but no signs of mould and was clean.
Worst two nights staying in a hotel. It's mostly the location which can't be helped but there were some thing about the hotel that bothered me. Like paying for WiFi, only getting free 30 mins a day when the google add said free WiFi. It does need amending. There's no room temperature control. TV's are tiny and there was soap missing from my dispenser in the bathroom. Rooms were clean and small. The corridors on the second floor stunk of cannabis. A gentle complaint was made at reception and nothing seems to be done about it until my check out day. It appears as if people are actually living at the hotel. When I raised the issue with a cleaner asking if she could smell the same thing I could, I was met with a smile and a blatant lie, "no" with a big cheesy grin. Didnt think it was very professional but she did then help us with getting hold of reception who happened to change a lot of the room locks whilst we were at work that day which was well appreciated. Reception was empty and this happened to be on the same day they've changed loads of locks on the door. Overall the staff were polite and friendly. The assistant manager who i spoke to on my last day regarding the smell of cannabis in the corridors was apologetic which I was happy with. Homeless people sleep in the alleyway that leads to the front entrance and it's not particularly nice having to literally step over them. At night time, open your window if you dare. People screaming at all hours. Felt like I was in an asylum for the clinically insane based off what you see in the movies.
Typical Travel lodge room. Location maybe central but rough as toast, Ideal for some if your not intimidated to easy. Strong smell of cannabis inside and outside. The building was having major works done externally. On arrival the receptionist didn't have a clue what he was doing. Wouldn't recommend for families with children.
Just returned from a 1 night stay at this hotel and we are so impressed. I read reviews which made me so nervous but I wish I hadn’t have worried now. The location is perfect, staff were excellent, rooms were great and so clean. I would 100% return!
Stayed a couple of nights to spend a day in the city with family that we met off the train. Exceptionally efficient and welcoming staff on arrival and booked in very quickly. We love the cityscape views from the windows on the higher floor, so the young man on reception/check in called Christopher put us on the 6th floor and we loved it. Christopher needs special mention and deserves recognition from travelodge for his good work.
Disgraceful Hotel unfortunately. Booked a room for 2 adults (a couple), they checked us in a twin room with separate beds. Went to reception and they initially helpfully checked us in a different room, I explained we needed 1 double bed. To my surprise the new room was still a twin room with separate beds. I went to reception again abd they said there was nothing they could do. WHAT?? There were no double bed rooms available and they apparently were overbooked by 1 in their system. I was told we had to stick with the 2 beds. I said we might as well get back the key to our previous room as we hadn't moved our stuff to the new room yet, they said no, that it was hard to check us back into that other room once we checked into a new one. (That's odd because it's exectly what they did previously.) This is supposed to be a budget hotel but the price wasn't budget at all. Shocking service and rooms. The twin room is supposed to accommodate 2 but only had 1 big towel. It had 2 mugs but only 1 spoon and the toilet door doest close. There isn't even a soap bar or ANY toiletries. I asked for a toothbrush/bathroom kit at reception and they didn't have anything. Will never return unless desperate.
Staff friendly,located near to all attractions ,unfortunately we paid for a super room which had a leaky toilet every time it was flushed,so we got moved to a smaller room. I left my pj's behind under the quilt,when I realised later in the day our old room had already been re rented & my pj's had been thrown away ,not impressed!
Noisy. Building works start EARLY outside hotel (5:30am today!) and windows not very sound proof. Rooms ok but not cleaned during your stay. Was told that it would cleaned if I stayed longer than TWO weeks!!! Never had a decent night’s sleep and would never return. Much better options for similar or better price available. Front door of hotel usually surrounded by local drunks and druggies, so not the most comfortable of experiences returning to hotel after dark.
I had a wonderful experience at Travelodge! The hotel rooms and facilities were clean and perfect. Usman Ali was great at accommodating, professional and very respectful. He made us feel comfortable and due to his great hospitality, the stay at Travelodge was excellent.
