I can’t stress enough how awful Birmingham Vicarage Lodge is. From the moment I arrived, I knew I couldn’t stay. I immediately contacted the company to cancel my booking and moved to a hotel in the city centre. The rooms are freezing cold, the floor was sticky, filthy, and stained everywhere, and the smell was unbearable. The bed mattress was terrible and the sheets were stained. The room felt abandoned, neglected, and absolutely disgusting. The toilet and shower are shared and outside the room, and both were filthy and freezing cold, with open windows. The hygiene in this place is nonexistent. I wouldn’t be surprised if it had bed bugs. The manager I spoke to was completely unprofessional, claiming the heating was automatic and only starts at 6:00 pm, and that I was the only person who felt cold β€” despite the freezing, dirty conditions. I couldn’t even stay there for an hour. This place is unsafe, unhygienic, and shocking that it’s still operating. Avoid it at all costs β€” if you value your health, comfort, and safety, do not stay here.

"I stayed at this hotel and honestly, it exceeded my expectations. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and very well maintained, giving a sense of luxury and peace. The service was simply outstanding – everything I needed was taken care of promptly and with a smile. The staff deserves a special mention for their warmth, professionalism, and willingness to go the extra mile to make guests feel at home. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was calm and welcoming, which made my stay even more enjoyable. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort, cleanliness, and top-quality service."

I stayed at Vicarage Lodge Birmingham and it was a very bad experience. The room and facilities were dirty, especially the bathroom and toilet – the sink and shower were in poor condition and not clean at all. The place did not feel hygienic or comfortable. The manager who checked us in was also very unprofessional. Because we arrived just ten minutes late, he charged us extra money, which was unfair. Overall, I felt uncomfortable during my stay and could not rest properly. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. ❌

Awful hotel, showers don’t work and if they do the waters freezing. Not only that you’ll wake up to puddles of water in your room. Really loud music playing until 6 am along with rats running round the back Avoid at all costs

Firstly, i turned up with high expectations, and after a nice long drive i took rest and soon found sick on my pillow. After this i felt disgusted and went to have a shower which my socks got drenched from the pool of water sitting in the bathroom. I then plucked the courage to have a shower to which i was frozen to an inch of life from the freezing (no hot water) shower. When i then lay in bed fully clothed i came to realisation my feet were 4 inches of the end of the 5ft bed. I honestly would recommend this place to go to if you’re trying to find the worst place in Birmingham. Great prices mind!

Stayed here for 3 nights during Easter. There was no one at the reception when we arrived around 2pm, waited for 15minutes for the concerned person to arrive and allocate the room. Paid for ensuite room, on first look room was okay, noticed the wooden floor was not mopped under thr bed. I can say rooms are definitely not cleaned everyday like in other hotels, no changing bed sheets. I think they do room service only after the guests checkout. They have lock code doors, if someone from outside know the code, they can easily barge in. Come on guys, if you are reading the reviews you know where to improve. If you want to stay for one night, I think it is fine, but definitely not suggested for multiple days - especially with family. One of the cab drivers said the area is rough and be careful and safe while walking in the neighbourhood. I didn't walk a lot outside so I cannot comment. They have a shared kitchen, which is a plus because my kid will not eat outside food, we cooked whenever possible. The kitchen in the basement is definitely not clean, but I just used the induction cooker, I carried required cooking utensils/cutlery so I haven't used the one in the kitchen.

The room was very dirty used Tissues under the bed .The wooden floor hadn't been swept or washed .The white bedding was all stained the pillows were very dirty . The towels were clean and I used them over the pillows . It really needs a a good clean and the rooms finishing off as bare plaster holes in ceiling generally needs a bit of maintenance

We always go on holidays at many different places and tried staying at many hotels, lodges, holiday homes but this one is beyond my imagination one of the WORST stays we been through.. We were in very first room from the entrance, can’t believe someone was banging the entrance door to come in middle of the night, we really couldn’t sleep ,people were shouting in the corridor. On top of that room was very dirty, the mattress and duets were full of dust and stains on in. Awful Awful Awful stay……

Absolutely loved our stay, it was me and 3 other mates. We booked 2 rooms and one ended up being upgraded to an ensuite! We all felt very safe as you can't even get into the building without a code that's texted to you on the booked day. Lovely comfy beds, even the other room we booked which was still a Standard room, was lovely. Can't imagine why this place is rated 2 stars! Would 100% recommend this place to any friends, and it's only a short 5 minute bus trip from the main city. Would definitely come back :)
