A party of 44 dined on 18th December. The majority of people had a learning disability. Our waiter, Will, was so attentive and showed such empathy and compassion to people who usually struggle in social situations. The food, the ambience, was amazing.

We had a wonderful Team Christmas Meal - the group really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. A special thank you to our hostess who was superb.

Came here for a farewell lunch for a colleague as I had heard great things about the food here. Coming from Surrey, we are spoilt for choice of gastro pubs with delicious reasonably priced Sunday roasts that are hot, wholesome & well presented. Sadly, for us, the Highfield did not live up to the reviews I read..the pork roast was underwhelming, not hot, received a miniscule piece of crackling & the stuffing looked like pre-prepared squares that did not resemble or taste like home-cooked stuffing. When I looked at my debit card, I was charged £30....which I am assuming was for the underwhelming stuffing & cauliflower cheese which was extra. Decor and service was ok, bar chairs were incredibly high for short people. I would not say it was awful, just a little overrated unfortunately, hence 3 stars.

Love a Sunday lunch - this is the place to try. Booked this afternoon for the first time and well impressed. Plenty of roadside parking as well as a car park to the side. The restaurant is comfortable and well planned. The staff we encountered were superb - attentive and friendly - a real asset to the place. However - the roast beef Sunday lunch was next level - a healthy portion, cooked to perfection AND halfway through the offer of additional Yorkshire puds and roasties - just next level. Just a wonderful place for a Sunday lunch. We’ll be back, again and again

wife's aunt. I have been a few times before but not for a couple of years. However, it was superb, certainly the best Sunday lunch I have had for many years. Service wonderful and wine excellent. If you're looking for somewhere different with outstanding food and nice surroundings try here. After I wrote the above review, two weeks later I took my wife. Not as good. I had soup but sent it back because it was luke warm. Again, I had beef, served pink but it was tough and everything else was just tepid. My wife chose roast pork which was fatty. A real disappointment. I struggle to see why restaurants can't deliver consistency with their food.

Very nice Sunday Roast. I had the pork, my folks had the beef. Extra spuds and Yorkshire’s offered halfway through which is a lovely touch. Service was excellent too. Would defo be back. Roast plus 2 drinks each=£30 a head

Very good hotel rooms, all en suite and some with a retro bathtub in the room. Everything is very tastefully designed and decorated. Lovely, big comfortable beds! Quiet location yet only a few minutes from the City. Right next door to the Highfield bistro and pub where it is possible to enjoy a nice selection of food and drinks all day and of course breakfast in the morning. Staff are courteous and attentive, a Special mention for Ben, an absolute star! Overall, a great experience, and definitely recommended

Needed a hotel near scanning facility/hospital. This was 5 minutes away, a beautiful property. Everything you need, we had booked one of the less fancy rooms but it was still beautiful. Will use them again as only mile and a half from city centre. Breakfast was next door and was lovely. Spotted some dog biscuits in a jar so really hoping they are dog friendly but did not ask at the time as we were more focused on getting to appointment

I really recommend the Highfield pub - I had dinner here both nights on the 22nd and 23rd of September 2022.. The food is fabulous and on the first night I ordered a starter and main and I was stuffed but it was beautiful! All the staff are very welcoming, friendly and hard-working. A lovely gentleman called Louis served me on my second night when I was having my dinner and he really was a genuine lovely guy. I asked him if there was any chance I could stay another night at the hotel but unfortunately they didn’t have availability because there was another wedding party coming in. This is a fabulous place to dine either alone or with company - Thank you so much for everything.
