Very good Premier Inn. Usual standard of cleanliness, staff friendliness and professionalism and room quality. One star knocked off as there was a very noisy air con/heating unit outside our window which forced us to keep our window closed, which was a shame.
We stayed for one night (Nov 24-25) and were thoroughly impressed. The Premier Inn York City (Blossom Street South) boasts a fantastic location; it's an easy walk from the train station and just a 10-minute stroll to the city center. The accessible rooms are spacious, comfortable, and quiet, and the breakfast was top quality. What truly sets this hotel apart is the staff. They are friendly, welcoming, and genuinely went above and beyond. When my wheelchair broke (the wheel snapped off!), they immediately helped us. They let us store the broken chair safely until my auntie could collect it and take it back to Newcastle, all while we secured a replacement from Eden Mobility. This level of care and support during a stressful situation was outstanding. We would definitely recommend this comfortable and quiet hotel to everyone.
We spent 2 nights there and really liked this hotel which was way better than what we expected from the reviews. Yes, the rooms and corridor carpets could be better vacuumed, but we found all staff to be very kind and helpful and the rooms of good size with all the needed. We did not try the breakfast but we enjoyed the tea/coffee available in our room with free refills at the reception. Also, the location is very good, just nearby the York train station, with a old pub nearby.
You can never tell with a review, but this is my honest opinion of my experience at this hotel. Lady at reception, very efficient, polite and very cheerful. My room was very clean, I checked ruthlessly. The location is amazing, about 5 mins walk from the station and in an area with plenty going on to entertain and feed yourself. Can’t report on the food as we had stuff planned.
A great hotel, good location and friendly helpful staff. Checkin was smooth and at breakfast I was offered a folder for dietary requirements which was very helpful amd allowed me to easily select what I could eat. There was no tea and coffee in my room on this visit, but no cups on the tray so I suspect was an over sight, that's fine though as we arrived late and had tea at breakfast anyway. Staff were also very helpful with ore booking accessibility request and questions.
A 5 day Christmas getaway to York by train made this Premier Inn an easy choice. A short walk from the train station with the facility to leave my luggage, ensuring I could make the most of my arrival and departure days. You know what you're getting with Premier Inn and South Blossom Street was no different. Friendly and helpful staff, comfortable double bed, clean room with TV, free WiFi (upgradeable if required), Desk and Chair, sofa bed, kettle, mugs, glasses, as much tea, coffee, sugar and milk as you require, en-suite with bath and shower over. Towels, soap, and shower gel provided. Rooms cleaned, and towels changed at your request. Plenty of power sockets are available for all your electrical gadgets. I also noticed an HDMI port to connect to the TV. Keycard system in use allowing guest only access 24/7. There was a Table Table Restaurant at this Premier Inn, which I did not use.
Stayed here before but we were disappointed with the cleanliness of the rooms this time . Bathroom very dusty , tiles and skirting not cleaned for a while , cleaning staff doing the bare minimum when turning rooms around. Mentioned this on checkout and told different staff due to xmas period but I said this was clearly a build up overtime not 2 days ! If you've managed to get a good price of around £40 per room then maybe you'd overlook it but this same room on a sat night can be £100 plus not acceptable!
We had a brief stay as we were attending a wedding. The staff were welcoming and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean and warm. The location is very close to the station so easily walked. It was a convenient and trouble free stay.
