Stopped for a roast beef and Yorkshire pudding dinner as part of a coach tour. Amazing meal - fabulous hosts! Gin selection is amazing. Loved this experience!
Summer 2022 Sunday lunch food was good. Service was not attentive and ended up having to go to the bar twice when the meal had been served to get our own drinks which I don’t mind but then don’t expect me to tip. I’ve eaten here before and always been pleased, but I think the further I go back the better the food , I like the small quirky rooms nice atmosphere , but this time we ate in what I can describe as a big low ceiling, dining hall, and quiet, uncomfortable chairs. Potluck, I suppose which bit you end up sat in . I know so many years ago I think they were trying to sell the pub but I believe it’s still the same management as when it had a pretty big reputation. At the end of the day, I would still recommend this pub in good consciousness.
Brilliant afternoon Gin, Vodka and Rum blending. Kelly was the perfect host, very friendly and very knowledgeable. It was great to see the still "Mary" and such a different experience rather than the usual tour and tasting of spirits from the bottle. Would highly recommend for a small or large group. The sharing platter was also fabulous too!
Had our Xmas works meal here, parking and toilets were good. The staff were very attentive and friendly, as was the atmosphere. The three courses came in a timely manner and were good, although I prefer my vegetables less well done.
Wonderful place! Wonderful people! Great conversations. The "Extreme Chocolate Makers" show on All 4 network has Ashley McCarthy. I think this place may be by appointment only, but if it is, please do see it!
We recently celebrated our wedding at Ye Old Sun Inn and it was absolutely amazing. So many people said how much of a perfect venue it was for a party and we enjoyed every moment. The food and service was as wonderful as always (it’s our favourite place to come and eat anyway) and we will forever be thankful to the owners and staff for making it so special!
First time visiting and we were really impressed. Great location, plenty of parking and a heated outdoor area. The food was top class and the staff were really welcoming and helpful throughout our visit. Definitely returning soon!
Early dinner on Friday evening. Keeps up to the excellent standard it has held for many years now. Classic British food with local suppliers well done. Steak, one of the best I have ever had. Wine choice good. Easy service. Not cheap but worth the prices Lunch today with a group of 6. Still excellent food and service. No reservations in continuing to recommend this place.
Excellent meal, the pies were mouthwatering. I'd highly recommend this pub to anyone. The hospitality was great and blankets were provided for a chilly York day. The travel from York city centre was easy enough with the car and didn't take too long. I recommend booking in advance as it fills up and for good reason. Great job, keep up the great work!
Great homemade food.. traditional country pub. Excellent service.. did I mention the food. Really enjoyed my time here would definitely go back for a second third and fourth time!
