   What a lovely historic and lively pub. Great live music and it’s not overly warm like other pubs have been just a perfect temperature! We’re here on holiday and this has been our absolute favorite. Rich in history, hauntings and good vibes.

   Lovely pub in the centre of the city. They had run out of roasts when we got there at 6:30pm, but it was christmas market day so not surprised. Definitely worth booking in advance. Food was delicious and pub was great

   I’d say this is one of the best lunch deals ever. With £8 you get a Chicken & Bacon Avocado Sandwich, complete with fries and salad, and a cup of coffee. They tasted good too! The place was cozy and nice. I came in on a Thursday afternoon (the lunch deal starts from 12 to 4) and it was super crowded. People coming in from 12.30 onwards had a hard time finding seats. I would definitely recommend this place whether for lunch or for a drink.

   We stayed here for my partner’s birthday, and it honestly exceeded all expectations. The staff were incredibly kind and friendly from the moment we arrived, making us feel truly welcomed and looked after. Our hotel room was absolutely beautiful, classy, immaculate, and even better than the pictures online, which is rare these days! The live music in the evening was incredible and gave the whole experience an extra touch of magic. We were genuinely impressed and amazed by every part of our stay. We’ll definitely be back!

   We reserved a table ahead of time which I recommend because the pub is always busy. We had some of the best fish and chips. The staff were friendly and helpful. I remember watching the most haunted team visiting here so to sit there felt special.

   Absolutely will be back again! Currently staying in a letting room upstairs and it's lovely, beautiful big bathroom. Warm welcome, good drink selection including good real ale, didn't try the food but there was only empty plates being collected. Live music every night, couldn't ask for more!

   I don't know about haunted, but the beer they have on tap is brilliant. The bar staff are friendly & welcoming, and to be honest you can't beat it for atmosphere. Was a brilliant (if unplanned) visit for a quick pint. A must for a beer if you are in York.

   We popped in for a evening meal. There is plenty of seating to choose from. The staff were polite and friendly. Food was great with a good menu. Definitely worth a visit if you like a pub with a great atmosphere. There is a beer garden too.

   If I could give this place 6* I would. The Hunters Chicken was hands down the best I've ever had. I can only assume they add something addictive to it - is it just incredible. A mix of marinara and BBQ sauce apparently but I swear there's more to it. Definitely worth a visit, even if it is just to hunt the fifteen ghosts or so that haunt this pub...
