The 2 members of staff clearly didnt want to be there! 27/28th Dec. On arrival, nobody came when we rang the bell, but fortunately our friends had picked up our key. We had to wait a long time to be served at the bar, even tho the restaraunt was not particuarly busy. We were served by someone who had to be told what brandy was, what names of whiskeys were and also the measures seemed dubious. When taking our order for food, she didnt know what the soup of the day was. She then came back to say an item was unavailable but didnt bring a menu. The food was good altho the ' radish mash' was actually horse radish which i would not have chosen. After eating they then cleaned around us, asked us to move to the bar and then promptly informed us the bar was closing they wanted to cash up! It was before 10pm on a sunday evening. They then mopped the floors around us and turned off the music and put the money drawer in the cupboard and ushered us and some other guests to go to bed. So we had no space to socialize. Breakfast previously fantastic was ok. The sausages were a very strange texture and we suspect they were the vegetarian ones. We waited to check out but nobody appeared so we left. We were repeat visitors and met with friends, who we had sung your praises to, who had also travelled to meet us there. We were embarassed and very very dissapointed and will not be recomending or returning. Such a shame oposite to last time we were there.

I have had a few meals here, and it’s always excellent. Breakfast is fantastic, you can tell they only use quality produce, really tasty, and both me and my friend enjoyed it all. I have had steak pie here, and it’s one of the best I’ve had, Sunday lunch - delicious, and the service is always top notch. Don’t hesitate get booked in, the place is lovely, different, nice for lunch, coffee and a cake, a celebration, wedding or a sit down meal! I will be coming again!

We were recommended this restaurant by a friend and travelled here for a birthday lunch. The building and surroundings are beautiful, the wine selection was varied and enjoyable, and the starters were decent pub-style dishes. Unfortunately, that’s where the compliments end. We chose to share a chateaubriand for our main course, but what arrived was deeply disappointing. The steak was overcooked and clearly old stock which you could smell it as soon as it was served (I can only assume they don’t sell many). The chips and mushrooms were also stale and tasted off. At £85, I would expect at the very least a fresh, well-cooked steak. I rarely complain in restaurants, but on this occasion I would have, had anyone checked back on our food. Instead, the staff seemed more focused on chatting about soaps and adjusting the lighting for the evening than providing anything resembling good service. Overall, a poor experience. I would not recommend.

We held a function for around 50 people at The Peppered Pig in the function room last Friday. Debbie and the team couldn't have been more helpful in the run up to the event. On the day the food was amazing and plentiful with lots left over despite our guests staying much longer than planned! Overall would highly recommend the team, the venue and the food. Special mention to Linda who was amazing throughout - thanks for making it a memorable and special day.

Went for lunch with friends. Excellent service and staff very friendly. They were short staffed, however the staff they had working were very efficient. Would highly recommend. We plan to book for an evening meal and stay.

Met some friends here. Was busy so advise booking before you go. Food was good ,bit on the pricey side. £14.50 for a small salad with no extras. They have a good breakfast menu but this has ended by the time of our visit at 12.30. Service was slow but pleasant manner. Small takeaway section for cakes and pastry to take home. Views lovely. Car parking available.

Great place to have Sunday dinner with amazing desserts! More potatoes and veg would have got it five stars.

We had a fabulous family Christmas meal on Friday evening from the christmas fayre menu. All our meals were excellent, the staff were wonderful and the atmosphere was great. We have been here a number of times now, and are so pleased everytime. Highly recommend.

Booked afternoon tea and what a delight it was. A delicious array of sandwiches, sausage rolls, savouries, fresh cream scones, pastries and cakes with endless amounts of tea and coffee. Beautiful setting, friendly staff and great value. A lovely treat
