This is a really good shop but I've found out that the friendliness of the staff is monitored. The implication of this is that the interaction between shoppers and staff is lacking in authenticity. While all customers deserve basic respect, the management should not cultivate fake friendliness by inappropriate scrutiny of their workers. If a retail worker is feeling below par they should be allowed to be sarcastic or slightly unreasonable as suits their natural mood. Otherwise the worker could go home after a long shift and find themselves being excessively courteous with their friends or family.
