We have had another wonderful meal at The White Horse today. We were greeted on arrival by the owner, who also ensured that we had everything we needed during our meal. The menu offers a tempting and varied choice of food, which was exceptional. With many thanks to the talented chef. A lovely place with a calm atmosphere. Thank you.
We have been staying here every year since 2022 and every time is absolute perfection. Amazing nature surroundings, very quiet and peaceful. The rooms are very spacious, modern and comfortable, and the terrace looking over the hills is the cherry on top. The food in the pub is also great - freshly made and high quality. Will continue coming back time and time again.
Me and my girlfriend were staying nearby for bank holiday weekend and we came across this lovely village pub whilst on a walk. Had really nice indoor and outdoor space and quality pints. The man at the bar was very welcoming and even gave us directions on how to get home as we didn’t know the area well. All around great experience!
Wow what an amazing stay. My wife, our toddler and myself stayed here for a few nights and had the most amazing time. The rooms were spotless and very spacious. The outdoor space was perfect and the views simply breathtaking. So peaceful and relaxing. The pub has lovely food and very good ale! All of the staff were really nice and made us all feel very welcome and fantastic with our little boy. I would recommend this place to anyone. 5 stars doesn’t do it justice. We will be back for sure!
We had lunch at The White Horse today, to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The atmosphere, food and hospitality from Mel was faultless. We sat in the bar next to a beautiful log fire when we first arrived and then in a quiet spot in the dining room. I had one of the specials, which was lemon sole and my husband had fillet steak. All cooked to perfection. We both had puddings - mine was chocolate Catalana and my husband had the Bakewell tart. Again, absolutely wonderful. We can't wait to go back and I can't recommend The White Horse highly enough. Thank you so much for making our special day even more special!
This restaurant is without a doubt one of the best I have been to in Derbyshire. The food you receive is fully deservant of its AA Rosette declaration, & I am almost certain this restaurant won't be to far away from being featured on the Michelin Guide. The monkfish starter was flawless. The flavours within cannot be explained & I would highly suggest you try this for yourself! The beef & chicken roast dinners were perfect. The meat was cooked to perfection, with the dish as a whole packed full of flavours! Whatever the occasion may be for your visit; you will not be disappointed.
A lovely couple run this place, the room was lovely and food was top notch. Nestled right amongst the county's rolling hills. Would definitely recommend

Great food and service. The 2 ladies working were very welcoming and extremely helpful. The food was amazing and well priced for the quality. Only in the area for a few days but will 100% come back if in the area again.
I visited for a family meal and they were very flexible to my dietary restrictions without making me feel like a burden and I had the most delicious meal that I could eat with none of the ingredients I have to avoid. The gluten and dairy free lemon rice pudding is absolutely delicious!! Highly recommend for those on gluten free, dairy free or low fodmap! They don't shout enough about how flexible they are on the menu, but trust me it's great food!!
