Great venue and friendly staff. Ended up there by chance and glad I stopped in, good food and options for food, good service and nice environment.

Excellent meal and lovely staff. Stopped off on way to Matlock in our motorhome. Large carpark and good menu choices. Great food served in modern surroundings. Chips were best ever! Can recommend.

Our second stay at the Horse & Jockey and just as nice as before. Good location, ample parking. Rooms are generous and comfortable. Rainforest shower was lovely with nice toiletries and towels. Nice supply of teas/coffees etc with a proper cup and saucer… a happy change from mugs. Breakfast, more than ample and unable to finish. Tasty and well cooked. Had to buy the Cappuccino’s as only filter coffee, but not an issue. Staff were polite and efficient.

Came down for a last minute bit of food in the garden with my partner and son and what a lovely evening it was! The bouncy castle was up plenty of space to sit outside and the food was absolutely bang on! Quick service and friendly staff! My partner also was very impressed with the quality of the Guinness.. We will be back again!!

Booked for a Sunday morning breakfast. Service finished at 10.30am which I hadn't seen on the website anywhere. We were late due to a road closure but they kindly still accommodated us and just asked if we could order quickly. The food was excellent although my father-in-law was rather overwhelmed with the amount of food in his Piggy Hash ( a lot) . He still managed to eat most of it though. Our first visit but will definitely be back to try a lunch sometime soon. Outside looks great too.

Warm and welcoming staff. The room was lovely, clean and fresh, best nights sleep I’ve had in a longtime! Well stocked hot drink selection and some rather nice biscuits! I had an evening meal and breakfast, nice menu, with a good selection of homemade meals and very reasonably priced, breakfast menu was also great with lots to choose from, I had the avocado, smoked salmon and poached eggs, the eggs were done to perfection!! I would highly recommend this establishment and will definitely be using again.

Had a lovely meal here whilst visiting the area for new year. We booked in online in advance as reviews mention it getting busy. A good choice of food on the Sunday menu and our starters and mains all tasted lovely with generous portions too.

We really, really enjoyed our meal. The ingredients were top notch, service very efficient and friendly and a perfect ambiance. Their own brewed ale was lovely too. I cannot recommend highly enough

Lovely dog friendly place, nice snug room, ordered drinks and food at the bar, the menu is small but varied in a good way. The quality of the kitchen really shines here though, the food was delicious. Not too expensive, service was a bit slow but they have a proper seated restaurant area where I’d imagine it’s much more efficient, we couldn’t go in there because of the dogs but service wasn’t slow enough to remove a star. The foods worth the wait anyway!

Booked an executive room (101) for a night away after visiting Carsington Water. Lovely, big, clean and comfortable room. Fab minibar and selection of hot drinks and snacks in the room. Nice toiletries and robes on offer. Even better, the rooms are soundproofed and quiet. The communication was great, they contacted me to check if we wanted to book in for dinner. Great as I'd not been able to book a table online. Dinner was perfect, as was breakfast. Highly recommend and will definitely stay again.
