We didnβt stay or go in but we did have our usual Christmas Day walk around the grounds. Over the year (because we do walk in there from time to time during the year) everything has gone into rapid decline. Not sure whatβs happened to the usually beautifully kept gardens. They were once immaculate but now they are shabby and overgrown. There are broken trees, overgrown paths and the place is a bit of a mess really. Very sad to see.

Our stay at Wortley Hall was absolutely wonderful! The location is perfect β peaceful and surrounded by beautiful grounds. The room was warm, clean, and very cozy, with a spacious bathroom. Everything felt comfortable and welcoming. Breakfast was excellent β a great selection of hot dishes, fresh fruit, pastries, and the freshly baked bread was simply amazing! We truly enjoyed every moment of our stay and would love to come back again.

My daughter was married here 2 years ago and it was wonderful. However, we thought it would be nice to return to celebrate their wedding anniversary so booked afternoon tea. There were several events going on and they were clearly struggling to provide adequate cover for each event. We were waiting a while for tea to be served. Tea was served eventually but without any milk. Had to go and search for staff to address this issue. By the time milk arrived the tea was cold, so had to request a replacement. We then had to wait again for food to arrive. The food was good but unfortunately items were missing and so once again had to go in search of a staff member to rectify this. So overall the event was very disappointing, what should have been a lovely afternoon celebration turned into a shambles. The waiter apologised but an apology is insignificant when the cost of the afternoon was over Β£100 for tye 5 of us. I was involved in the catering trade for many years myself and the service was extremely poor by any ones standard. I would advise Wortley not to book events if they are unable to staff them adequately.

What a lovely place. Stayed here for a wedding. Staff were great. They were friendly and cared, you could tell they enjoyed working there. Food was great and the breakfast superb. A great night's sleep in a comfy bed. Our room had a wonderful view. Would definitely stay here again.

We had a lovely afternoon tea here, bought as a gift for my husband & me. Really enjoyed it & the lady who served us was lovely & very attentive; the sandwiches, sausage roll & cakes were all great. We had to take some of the cakes home as we couldn't manage them all!

Called in today for a sandwich and drink in the bar. There was a wedding taking place in the hall. I felt a little under dressed in my walking gear amongst the wedding guests who had slipped into the bar for a break from proceedings. The staff could not have been more welcoming. The service was superb. The food we had was excellent. The surroundings are worth a visit on their own. All in all, I feel very lucky to have such a wonderful place on my doorstep. Will be calling in more often!

Had afternoon today and it was really enjoyable. The young waitress was pleasant and helpful, freshly made sandwiches and scones and the selection of cakes were all tasty. Shall definitely return

Went for afternoon tea, which was ok but unlike others you couldn't choose sandwich fillings but only say what you don't want, and this must be ordered at time of booking. Overall, it wasn't bad. Drinks wise if you don't drink tea or coffee be prepared to pay extra as they don't substitute the drinks (when booking got told this was because we used a red letters day voucher, but it shouldn't matter how the booking is paid for and all guests should be treated equally). As to the place, luckily, I'm not disabled as the disabled entrance is round the back where they do deliveries. The room where we were was a health and safety hazard from in the floor damaged power socket covers and also mouse/rat boxes in an eating area. There was no atmosphere to the place either with no background music, you were left to find the room and seat yourself, then they brought the drinks, then the afternoon tea, then left you. No checking to see if all was satisfactory, if required anything else, etc, etc. I don't think would be visiting the venue for a meal or even a stay in the future. In response to their reply. We weren't after alcoholic drinks, it was a hot chocolate in place of tea/coffee and had to be paid for as an extra. Surely a replacement non alcoholic drink whether hot or cold could be substituted. I'm also surprised that the General Manager was not aware of the safety hazard with the socket coverings or the mouse bait boxes in the room.
