The Cavendish Hotel is only a 28-minute walk to the famous Chatsworth House through green grassland, and the walk is quite pleasant. We stayed for one night in late December. The furniture in the room was a bit old, and Room 7 was quite cold. The receptionist and the housekeeper kindly changed our room to Room 1. Also chair was broken, but it was quickly replaced. We had lovely dinner at the one-star Michelin restaurant, "The Gallery". The food was superbly cooked. The Derbyshire beef was very tender, and the chips were crispy.A decent three course meal with good flavor and nice presentation. Highly recommended.

We were transferred to this hotel when our original booking (The Hide) had a problem. We received a significant upgrade at no extra cost which was much appreciated. The hotel was excellent, with brilliant staff who were all most friendly and helpful. Breakfast was first class with nothing too much trouble. Lovely cosy room with wonderful views across the countryside. Am ideal location for visiting Chatsworth house (which was also excellent). Highly recommended.

We had an amazing time at the Cavendish Hotel. The food was exceptional, the service was excellent. All of the staff made us feel extremely welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Sometimes they went above and beyond the standard service. The location is beautiful and so peaceful. I would highly recommend the Cavendish to anyone wanting to have a break away where you can relax and get in touch with nature, whilst enjoying all that the Cavendish has to offer. Thank you for making our stay such an enjoyable and memorable experience.

I recently stayed at this beautiful quaint hotel near the historic Chatsworth House and Gardens, and it was absolutely delightful. The atmosphere is so full of charm! It is so cozy, quiet, and filled with character. You can feel the history of the area from the moment you arrive. The rooms were beautifully kept, with thoughtful touches that made the stay feel personal and warm. Try the Chatsworth shortbread cookies, they are delicious! The Cavendish is the perfect place to unwind after exploring the nearby historic sites, hiking or strolling through the local charming towns. The staff were welcoming and attentive, always ready with local recommendations - especially Stephen who was extremely nice and very helpful. The setting is so peaceful. If you’re looking for a relaxing, charming stay near history and hospitality, this is the place to be.

Beautiful hotel. We booked a Superior Inn room, it had views of the dales, we loved the design and found it spacious. We enjoyed daily breakfast, and ordered room service here and there, all of which were very tasty. The staff and level of their service was fantastic. We planned to stay for three days, extended to five and hope to go back. A magical vacation.

Beautiful Sunday lunch served by friendly people in a wonderful setting with the Christmas decs up. Have had their festive afternoon tea here last year and on both occasions it was all delicious. Will be returning soon!

Only visited to enjoy their Afternoon Tea and it was simply superb. Added a lovely glass of LP to accompany our Tea, and the whole experience was delightful from start to finish. Made all the more enjoyable by our waitress, a fantastically charismatic lady from the east of Scotland, who made our afternoon visit even more memorable.

The Cavendish Hotel ended a week-long UK staycation based around the Michelin Guide restaurants & hotels, and unfortunately we were very disappointed and will not be returning or recommending it. We found it to be overpriced, and focused more on up-selling than customer service. The room was fine for the rate we paid, dinner was not up to expectations, breakfast was far below expectations. For the evening dinner we were unfortunately not feeling well and couldn't have our final pre-paid dinner courses and asked for a couple of bottles of still water so we could rest in the room. We were charged a hefty Β£4/bottle - so in total we paid Β£12 for water (including the bottle during dinner - we had asked for tap, but the options were a still bottle or sparkling bottle). Having had some excellent service from top hotels around the country, I was half expecting the bottled water to be free (as we'd had in other hotels), or at least comp'd given we didn't finish the meal and were feeling poorly (neither were the case). They also charged us for the morning newspaper (this was included in other hotels we during our trip). All in all, it was a disappointing stay.
