What a treat to stop for a bite to eat with the dog and be given a gorgeous, cosy table with a fabulous menu where virtually everything is already gluten-free or can be made gluten-free. Everything was so tasty, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. They definitely have chefs who know how to combine ingredients and balance flavours! I'm still thinking about that goats cheese and cranberry croquette starter. We were only in the Peak District for a long weekend but we enjoyed the food so much we went back the next day. Friendly, helpful service and lovely customers too. My son pet so many gorgeous dogs! We had rented a cottage in Bamford but I'd imagine it's a lovely place to stay too. Look forward to going back next time we visit the area.

Magnificent! Booked The George for my wife's 50th and had a wonderful time. Zero complaints, first class staff and secure parking! From the branding and decor to the service and ambiance (including the exquisite perfumery in the rooms), everything was on point and remarkable in execution. It really is what it says on the tin with no dissapointments and comes delightfully laced with framed antiquities around every corner.

Recommended hotel, great food from experienced chefs. We eat here every week, it's become a thing in our group because they've never disappointed this far. People staying there seem very happy so I can only assume that the rooms must be great too. Staff are lovely and helpful.

The George Hotel is an absolute gem in Hathersage. The service is consistently outstanding, whether in the hotel, the bar, or the restaurant, the staff always go above and beyond to make sure everything runs smoothly. The rooms are immaculate, comfortable, and perfectly equipped with everything you could need. We often bring clients here, sometimes in large groups, and the team never misses a beat. Despite the size of our parties, the restaurant service is always seamless, attentive, and professional, with no compromise on quality. Itβs rare to find a venue that delivers so well across every area, but The George does exactly that. Highly recommended for both business and leisure stays. Big thank you to Nat who was super on our last visit!

Had an excellent stay here, I'm glad we chose it as our main base for exploring the Peak District, as there are a few buses right outside the hotel which can take you to the main towns. Room was excellent, really spacious, clean, comfortable and quiet. The service here was impeccable and really made our stay so much better, even after we checked out and stayed around for some food. The hotel staff helped to arrange some flowers as it was my partner's birthday, and were overall very helpful through our stay and about places to explore. Breakfast is just one dish and tea/coffee/juice, portions were a bit small but we enjoyed! Would definitely come back again soon and recommend to friends! 10/10 experience.

Weβve just come back from a fantastic Sunday night stay here. We chose this venue so we could meet some friends. We stayed in 2 superior rooms and had the festive menu for our evening meal. The rooms were warm and cosy, the drinks in the bar were great (plenty of choice for beers and lagers), the food was superb and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The Christmas decorations and atmosphere were also great. This morningβs breakfast was excellent. After a 4-mile walk we returned to the hotel for tea/hot chocolate and a mince pie. We plan to return next December.

Recently refurbished Coaching Inn stylish book room lounge, cosy dark wood bar area. Very modern but stylish room with great colour combinations, modern shower and great mirror! The staff were friendly and professional even when really busy. Generally good value for money but the breakfast βextrasβ were a little unfathomable like charging for an espresso or a cappuccino and for combinations on the menu. I did enjoy their choice of starters at dinner and their triple cooked chips!

We turned up at The George without booking. A mixed bag of adults and kids, we had been for a bit of a family hike and decided to stop off for something to eat. The George very sensibly don't book out the tables in the garden, and so they were able to accommodate our large group, pushing tables together and finding us a high chair. The food was excellent. I had the Mexican roast cauliflower salad with chicken. I hate it when pubs think a salad is only something you would order if you were on a diet. This was a proper meal though, full of flavour and fresh ingredients. We ordered pizzas too and triple cooked chips. Everything was good. The service was very attentive. They made us feel very welcome and were patient with the children ordering. They were more than happy to check for certain ingredients with the chef and everything came out hot and on time. Would certainly come again (and maybe book ahead next time).
