   A beautiful pub in a great location. The roast beef and lamb Sunday lunches were fabulous! Generous portions and really flavoursome. The lady that served us initially was so lovely with us and our little girl (also a super kids roast lunch). We brought a doggy bag home and finished it for tea (although I’m not convinced this went down well with the second server). We enjoyed it later though!

   We eat here regularly, either me and my elderly mum or as a family. The food is really good, with generous portions. The staff are friendly and helpful. My mum is in her 90s, has dementia and cannot walk far. This is one of our favourite places for lunch, as the staff are lovely, understanding and accommodating. For those with mobility challenges, there is a small step up into the building, but, once inside, it's on one level.

   Walkers and drinkers not welcome. Called in for a drink after a long walk. The place was really quiet. Asked if it was OK to just have a drink. Waitress said yes fine, sit anywhere in the bar area. Ordered drinks and sat down. Immediately a lady came over and said you will have to move in 30 minutes. She then came back and said to the barman pointing to us " them 2 have to leave in 30 minutes. Didn't want to stay anyway as the Chatsworth Gold was sour and the Landlord was not in perfect condition. The thing is only one couple came in after us and they stopped serving food around 30 minutes after we left. No way was it going to get full. They are lucky they can manage without walkers and "drinkers" as most pubs in the area are struggling and welcome us with open arms.

   We went few weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon. We’re given a seat in a room next to the kitchen. The amount of flies flying around us was disgusting. It was really hot inside as well. I felt not amazed by the interior and just the basic atmosphere. The food…. Was alright. I don’t think it’s worth the price which you are paying for. I am guessing they are adding few quid on top because of the location. I’ve had beef roast which was okay. I wasn’t impressed. We needed to return my fiancé meal cause of some items on a plate being rock solid- raw. Mainly veggies. We’ve waited over 30 minutes for the food which was even more surprising that some of the items were not cooked properly, even after all this time. Overall, we are not going to be back in the next years, that’s for sure. It’s expensive for what you are getting. And the quality of food is not great.

   Had lunch here and was very good. Probably the best ploughman's I've had. Homemade bread and sausage rolls. Lovely lean ham and local cheeses. Had a homemade apple and cinnamon crumble with vanilla custard for dessert and was also really good and a large portion. My friend had a homemade steak pie with mash and she said was very good. Prices were good from the Light Bites menu. There was another comprehensive menu of mains at higher prices.

   This is a wonderful place for a short break. We stayed four nights in this small inn. The staff were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. The food is fine dining quality and served with beautiful presentation and attention to detail. They made our stay relaxed and very special for my partners big birthday. This is in a beautiful village within a walk of the famous Chatsworth farm shop. If you’re interested in visiting Chatsworth house this is the perfect location to base yourself.

   We have eaten in a few of The Devonshire Arms group of pubs. Standard is always high. We booked last minute on Jan Boxing Day around 3pm as good availability. The Pilsley location is great, a few minutes to Chatsworth and Monsal Trail. Service was really friendly. Bar area very comfortable & cozy. Our food as expected was tasty & high quality. However, the menu choice was disappointing as very limited in choice for the vegetarian in our family & expensive. Just one main dish ( £19) or a sandwich (£12). We'll definitely check ahead about menu choices on future visits.

   Thanks, we had a great time with you all. We usually go to The Cavendish, so you were a real comparison, particularly your food. Would have liked two eggs offered at breakfast, particularly as I didn't have the 'full English' but otherwise, really impressive. The staff were very friendly, helpful & knowledgeable. We'll be back.
