   Perfect location for visiting the Peak District. We stayed two nights and managed to park in the adjoining carpark both evenings. Although there is a public carpark very nearby and I noticed it was only £1 to park from 6pm to 8am. The staff were all very friendly, in the restaurant, bar and at breakfast. The food was presented very well and was delicious. The roast beef was excellent and popular. Everything cooked to perfection that we ate! Breakfast was cooked freshly. There was a buffet area with toast, yoghurt, cereal etc. This area wasn't very inviting, with tables of staff belongings and used as storage and for staff to eat. Our room was very creaky, waking us up both nights. The floorboards and pipework were the culprits!! You could say it adds to the character of the accommodation. Our room had quaint furnishings although the bathroom could do with a refresh. It was very popular with dog owners and as dog lovers we enjoyed seeing them. Overall we would throughly recommend and would return if in the area. Thank you to all the staff for making it a lovely stay.

   We stayed at the Devonshire Arms over Christmas, and it was everything we hoped for — warm, welcoming, and wonderfully festive. The location is ideal, just a few minutes from Chatsworth, which made it the perfect base for visiting. Plenty of parking made arriving and settling in completely stress‑free. The hotel is very dog‑friendly and made our four‑legged friends feel right at home. From the moment we walked in, the staff couldn’t have been friendlier. They struck that perfect balance of being attentive, accommodating, and genuinely kind — nothing ever felt too much trouble. Everyone greeted us with a smile, they made the whole stay feel special. Our room was cosy, clean, and comfortable, with those little extras that make a stay feel more personal. The pub and restaurant had a lovely atmosphere — exactly what you want at Christmas — and there was plenty of choice on the menu. We left feeling relaxed, well fed, and very glad we chose to spend part of our Christmas here.

   Booked a table as we were visiting Chatsworth House. The location was great only a few minutes away. The pub was great. A typical Yorkshire pub with the added advantage of a full restaurant. The staff were very friendly and the food was great. Plenty of parking. Would certainly visit again.

   Have visited a few times when staying in the area and always enjoyed. We brought friends with this time highly recommending the restaurant. Although giving our order and the food taking a whlie to arrive we were not disappointed with the main course and were looking forward to a pudding only to be told the kitchen was closed. It was not late. Perhaps we could have been informed earlier this would happen. Having worked in hospitality I have never known anywhere do this to guest already dininging in the restaurant. The staff were good but an apology might have been appropriate hence only 3 stars.

   Didn't stay over but the rooms look very nice. Visited for an evening meal. The pub itself is very nice. We sat in the bar area which was cosy. Food options are great and very tasty! Friendly service. Good selection of drinks available. Would definitely recommend.

   It was an experience. First time sat on a stall. Next to the bar. We were greeted & took to our table. Service was good. The drink was good. The food was nice but a bit of a surprise. Very nice. I think the price was more than I expected. ( An experience) very nice.v

   Crowning off a lovely week in the peaks/dales as well as a 28 year anniversary. The Devonshire Arms was just the venue for what turned out to be an absolutely amazing meal for both of us. Beautiful setting. Friendly and tentative staff. The eating area was refined but also cosy and relaxed. Excellent quality food at a fair price. I must also add dog friendly. You need to book for the restaurant but walk in for the bar area is not bookable. You must try this place.

   If you ever find yourself in Baslow, do yourself a favor and choose Devonshire Arms for your next meal. They have a wonderful prix fixe menu that included one appetizer, 1 entree and dessert. I ordered the Mushroom Rarebit-if you are a mushroom lover like I am, you will enjoy it. Next, I ordered the Sea Bream Fillet, which was the most perfectly cooked fish I've had in awhile, absolutely delicious! And last but not least the Sticky toffee pudding for dessert. it was the best sticky toffee pudding I've had here on my visit to the UK. The service was super friendly, and so refreshing since service at restaurants have gone downhill lately. Although, the music was a little dated (70's/80's music) I can understand why as the clientele seemed to be a bit on the older side. Overall, a fantastic dining experience at "The Dev"

   Faultless...... I have no higher praise than that every part of the evening, the meal, the experience, the staff, the food, the setting was utterly faultless. One of the best, most perfectly cooked and seasoned belly pork slices I've ever had (and I've had a few) followed by the lightest, tastiest bread and butter pudding. The service was impeccable. The restaurant decor was delightful. I actually have no criticism whatsoever. Our group have had 3 nights eating out in 3 different locations.... We all voted The Devonshire Arms number 1. Go. Eat. Be very impressed.
