Just had my flu jab in a dirtiest back room, dust and fluff on the worktops and leaves on the floor. V poor clinical hygiene.

I have just trawled through all the reviews for this Chemist to see if my experience was reflected elsewhere… and it certainly was ! I do not live locally but was visiting my son and family who live in the village. As I was going to go for a walk they asked me to collect my granddaughter’s prescription. At the last minute I decided to take their dog with me (unbeknown to them). As I neared the shops I did wonder about taking the dog wondering if I could take him in. I scanned the door and window to see if I could see a No Dogs notice, but there’s so many notices and leaflets plastered on the window and door and to my detriment didn’t spot it!! I went in with the dog and joined the queue. Thankfully he is a well behaved dog! However, when I got to the counter. Oh my goodness the attitude from the assistant made sure I knew I had committed a grave mistake. I apologised quickly asked for the prescription but it was made quite clear I had to get out with the dog, which I did but asked could they bring it out to me then. An assistant then came to the door said it was ready but had to be checked, 10/15 mins, reminding me I couldn’t bring the dog in. Tying him up outside was not an option as the only pole there is right on the edge of the road so not a good idea. I waited 20 mins then went back but stood on the step outside so they could see me. A girl then waved a bag at me from over by the pharmacy, I opened the door and she immediately shouted I couldn’t bring the dog in but I had to sign for the prescription. I asked her to bring it to me but she wouldn’t do that, so a bit of a stand off! She then shouted ‘bring it in then’ I quickly went in and signed as requested. She told me to remember not to bring the dog in future, I said I wouldn’t be returning. This shop needs to seriously retrain their staff in customer relations, how to talk to customers, and treat them helpfully in all situations. Yes I was in the wrong but 3 different types of dogs are allowed in, dogs for the blind and deaf quite rightly, can’t really get my head around ‘emotional dogs’!! But there we go.

I went to Cohens for a flu jab at a drop in session. Cohens sent me a text to say the session was running. Well done Cohens for making such an accessible arrangement. The staff were very welcoming and all customers needs were met. When my mother was ill Cohens were brilliant at supporting us during a difficult time. Thank you for all your efforts.

Terrible customer service. Try back a small high street shop instead of large pharmacy and I wish I had never bothered. Change required if they want a repeat customer base

This Pharmacy is operated by the rudest most appalling staff ever imagined. Why people with no compassion at all choose to work in a service that requires a personable communication is beyond me. It seems the staff despise people so much they should really take a different vocation! The staff do everything they can to delay handing over peoples prescriptions. They say come back in an hour, you go back in an hour then they say it will be ready in 2 days. They say we don’t have your medication you then go home empty handed, then they telephone you when you arrive home and say they have it. Why does it take 3 to 4 days or more to get your prescription? As elderly people myself and my neighbors cannot run up and down the village as they sort them selves out. Why is it so badly organized in this pharmacy? The staff on a Saturday are absolutely wonderful and extremely helpful. But if you go in the week you will be met by the rudest most unhelpful staff you can imagine. Please fire all the staff and get some new management, you are upsetting the whole village of elderly people. Some manners and helpful communication would be most appreciated. If anyone in Boston spa is interested in starting a petition for new management please feel free to contact me. Having to visit this pharmacy is the most stressful experience you can imagine. The doctor’s surgery need to be made aware how totally impossible it is to get your prescriptions even when the doctors have highlighted that the medications are urgent. This pharmacy is actually making people ill!

The staff are always friendly and professional when I visit, nothing is too much trouble for them and always willing to help and assist me. Always a pleasure and thank you for what you have done and do.

If you are looking for a Chemist that goes out of its way to make a simple process difficult, is happy to discuss your private medical matters openly in front of random strangers, does it’s best to avoid selling you less expensive generic alternatives to big brand products, and does it all with exquisitely rude staff then you have found the perfect place with Cohens. If none of this appeals to you go somewhere else, anywhere else. In fact just remain poorly, it’s a better alternative.

I went in this morning and asked if the pharmacist would have a look at my eye. The assistant at the counter then started to question me about it and then went out of sight and relayed what l had said to the pharmacist. I was then told to buy An expensive eye wash that l have been using. Very disappointing that the pharmacist couldn't be bothered with me. I won't be returning

Don't agree with some of the recent reviews, been our local Chemist for 7 years. We have found the staff very friendly and helpful. However like most other chemists, it does get very busy at times.

Staff take far too long to serve customers, often waiting 20mins just to give you a prescription that should be ready. I ordered an item on Monday and didn't get it in till the following Monday, I had to go in twice before it was ready. I feel all the staff should get further training in how to deal with customers.
