I’ve been a regular customer at Tesco Islington Green for a long time, but unfortunately, my recent visit left me very disappointed. Yesterday evening, I was challenged to show ID at the self-checkout. While I understand the need for age checks, the way the staff member spoke to me was completely unprofessional and disrespectful — especially in front of other customers. When I came back with my ID and proved my age, I told him, “See, as I knew you didn’t believe me.” However, his tone and attitude were terrible, especially when he said it didn’t matter if I was 45 or 50; he would still challenge me, and then told me to “act my age.” His rude tone made the whole experience even worse. What this person doesn’t know is — what if I was a mystery shopper? I doubt that kind of behaviour would have passed any sort of performance check. I have worked in customer service and know how important it is to treat customers with respect, and this experience fell far short of that standard. Because of his attitude and behaviour, I am thinking of taking my custom elsewhere. I hope Tesco looks into this to improve staff conduct in the future.

This place is going down the hill! Have they changed management I wonder? Suddenly my contactless did not work for any card or my phone. I had yo spend a good 5-10 min at the till trying to find my pin number. When I asked they said 'for safety'. So basically they are 20 years behind in terms of safe payment at the till. I suppose I won't be able to shop there again! Goodbye Tesco!

Tesco Express on Upper Street, Islington Green, is Accessible for my Powerered Wheelchair and sells a large cross section of Foods and Fresh Produce.. They do also stock some Beautiful Fresh Cut Flowers as you can see from today's Photographs. Chinese Lillies and Pink Roses. Delightful. I popped in to buy a few Ready Meals and lots of Bananas for my Smoothie Maker. The staff are always friendly and very helpful when I visit, and assist me at the Checkout. There is something else I love about this particular store, on several occasions this year, I purchased 5 winning Lottery Scratch Cards. Once I cashed in +£49:00 when paying for -£52:00 worth of Groceries, so my shop cast me -£3:00. Lucky or what. Bakery items are always fresh and delicious, like the Tiger Bloom Loaves. Today I purchased 6 Special Hot Cross Buns for Afternoon Tea with An assortment of Cheeses also sold here. All in all, one of my favourite stores in North London.

Terrible treatment by the security guy working today Sunday, 22-06-25, 13:30h,Tesco Islington; Rude, without education or manners and when I demand him to treat me with respect because I’m a customer expending my money in the shop, he still with the same behaviour, I was shocked. I will never again expend my money in this supermarket.

Awful experience on 26/06/2023. I had shopped with my 2 children and partner, 1 child in a buggy. Bare in mind I had brought bags from home scrunched up in my buggy the security guard accused me of stealing a 20p tesco bag. Absolutely out of order. I proceeded to tell him I got it from home and he then said ‘which home’. What kind of security guard asks this sort of question, as if he’s implying I have no home. Totally confused by this barbaric behaviour, it resulted in police being called for no reason, a complete and utter waste of police time, there is serious crimes happening and the security guard wants to accuse me of stealing a 20p bag that I brought from home. Is that not what the bags are for? To be reused???? I was also speaking to surrounding customers who have stated that this security guard is always causing an issue yet the tesco staff did not help me, even though I am a regular.

The most unorganised shop ever. The staff restock the sandwich and snack shelves at lunchtime causing customers to lose hall of their break waiting to chose. Today there was a choice of around 6 leftover unwanted sandwiches and no items of fruit or snacks to make a lunch deal. I’ve had to give one star, which I believe is far too generous!

Great local Tesco close to Angel station. Plenty of products available for a smaller store, with self checkout to avoid queues and an ATM outside if you need cash. There is always items on sale on a cabinet next to the cheeses, with very generous discounts at that. Staff seem happy and are very responsive if you need help. Self checkout usually needs the most attention since the machines can have errors often, though as mentioned before the staff assigned there have a keen eye and will jump to help you out. Overall I have no problems with the store, and would definitely recommend it if you need to do some quick shopping, grab a snack, or even your large household shopping.
