   Fantastic café with friendly staff who can't do enough to help and are extremely knowledgeable about allergens. Great food at excellent prices for many dietary requirements (caters for gluten free (even has a separate chip fryer for coeliacs), dairy free, vegetarian and vegan). They were more than happy to triple check allergens even when it was super busy, and didn't make us feel like this was an issue. Tables can be busy but open up quickly.

   What a lovely experience we had here, excellent service from John and other members of the team. Spent nearly 3 hrs getting kit for my daughter’s trip to Kilimanjaro. Lots of advice and great tips (even on the best way to tie your bootlaces). Came away thrilled with our purchases. Highly recommended.

   My favourite cafe for the last 25 years. Great food after a long walk. Full English or egg and chips. Best coffee and best tray bakes for miles around. Great mountain photos/ art in cafe. Dog friendly. Fantastic walks from the door Hope Valley or Stanage.

   I've used this store for a good few years now and it's always fantastic. They stock almost anything outdoorsy that you can think of and the staff are all very knowledgeable on the items and happy to help choose whats right for you. Over the years ive purchased clothing, climbing shoes, guidebooks, bags, bouldering mats and more. All of which i had help choosing and turned out to be perfect for what i needed. Recently i got some hiking boots that Rorey helped me with. I was very indecisive and took about three hours to decided. He was very patient and didn't make me feel like a burden. Ive just got back from the Dolomites where the boots were perfect. The restaurant is always good too. Food is served quickly and well priced. The parking can be a little annoying at busier times as it fills up quickly and theres not really any other options. But 8/10 times we can get parked in their carpark.

   Have visited this shop for years. I rate it as the best all round outdoor shop in the UK. Staff really know their thing & are friendly. Superb range if boots(never by winter boots anywhere else) great climbing section. Good range of clothing & many books all maps etc. Cafe is my standard Hathersage stop for Huge Coffee, sometimes very busy in Cafe be patient but that doesn't warrant not giving it 5*

   A well stocked shop filled with good quality outdoor clothing and equipment. Staff are very knowledgeable and helpful to novice climbers and walkers. They can kit you out with hats to boots and everything else in between. Not cheap but quality costs. Upstairs is a great little cafe. Hot tasty food at reasonable prices and really nice staff. Excellent coffee to warm you up on these wintery mornings. Love the atmospheric photos of climbers past and the more recent ones. Dog friendly.

   We live in Sheffield but are happy to drive all the way to hathersage just for this one shop. The range of outdoor kit is excellent and the quality first class. It's refreshing to find a shop that still stocks good quality stuff instead of the lowest common denominator tat that is easy to find in the competition shops. The staff too are knowledgeable and helpful. They also have a great section devoted to climbing gear too. Definitely the best place to go for outdoor gear now that hitch and hike has long since closed. Thoroughly recommend.

   Outside is more than just a shop - it’s the hub of everything outdoors in the Peak. Even if you just need advice the staff are always happy to give you their time. I’m yet to use the cafe, but have heard nothing but good things about their offerings. Come and visit if not just to see the collection of old climbing gear in the back room or to get a recommendation on where’s good for a walk. Still family run, which is a rare thing nowadays. In my opinion this is THE BEST OUTDOOR SHOP IN THE COUNTRY!

   The gentleman at the shoe section is clearly experienced in mounteniering (not just a salesman) and gave excellent advise on which boots and ice crampons to buy. This is one of the few places where I'm happy to pay a bit more for a product in acknowledgment of the staff experience and knowledge. One of the best outdoor shops in the UK!
