My time at the ymca is genuinely the worst time of my life nearly driving me to suicide. Threats by other residents on a daily basis staff ignoring my requests and shout for help I have had several melt downs and received very little to no help. Members of staff buying drugs or having sex with residents constant noise 24/7 i never got a second of peace truly its a disgrace and I'm ashamed this building is still standing. Truly a horrible place please stay away at all costs.

I would not recommend....very terrible. As a former resident of the YMCA at romford I can say the housing staff are useless in my personal opinion and even some of the receptionists are very incompetent and have no communication skills.Theres one receptionist i think her names Charlotte shes the worst one in my opinion.I have read online where another resident has had bad experiences with them.Thats my review on the YMCA at romford.

I cannot fault this gym in friendliness, helpfulness and diversity. I was kindly offered a free tailored one to one 12 week cancer rehabilitation course following a macmillian referral. Roy my trainer was so kind, welcoming and encouraging just what I needed. Ive never used a gym before so my first step was a very big step for me. I can honestly say with each week I noticed improvement in mind, body & soul. I can't thank the programme, YMCA and Roy enough. Yes the building is tired and needs funding. But the amount of equipment is unbelievable and there's always someone to help. It suits all ages and abilities. I have now joined and have added another class alongside my independent gym session as I follow the schedule Roy designed for me to go forward with. There are lots of varied classes available throughout the week for all abilities. Membership gives you access to all and a discount in the cafe too. Definitely an asset to Havering.

The receptionist I met this morning was absolutely amazing at her job, such a caring kind soul with amazing customer service skills, thank you for making me feel welcome and giving me a confidence boost! Made my day.

A nice place where there are a lot of different activities that suits everyone with different age groups. I had a subscription with the Hussle app, which gives a discount through my bank. But according to one of the receptionists that still I could have paid less if I directly subscribed with them. There is a minimum 3 months subscription with Hussle, so after it expires, I'm going to check their prices. The gym is nice, with 5 different areas for treadmills and aerobics activities, weightlifting, core exercises and another area with various weightlifting machines. It's not big, but okay if 10 persons or less are there. I usually go early morning around 6am, so it's almost always not busy. The area for core exercises is very small, even for classes. I have not attended any. Maybe it's being done in different area. There are other activities other than the gym, which I have not tried. But I pass by a basketball court which looks very nice. There is a cafe as well.

A comunity house. That is all I can say. With a good ideas to gather comuntiy together,to provide support. But the premises are very outdated. Need massive investments...

I werent there to find out how to apply for the YMCA The staff didnt know what they were doing They gave me the wrong date to go in for an assessment. Had me going back and forth to eventually end up terminating their involvement with me because I missed a call from them, back when I was homeless.

Would absolutely not recommend. Only public visitors are catered for well. Residents are treated horrifically, for a place that is supposed to help and support vulnerable people. It is unfortunate to say they do the opposite. Many staff are rude and patronising and don’t take into account the struggles residents find in that building. It is so old that most things are falling apart. There’s cracks throughout every floor, the lifts hardly work and you’ll have to walk up and down 10 flights depending where ur floor is. The ‘ meals ‘ provided are atrocious, and in no way do they fulfil a healthy balanced diet. If you work you’ll have to pay a crazy 60% of your wages to live in a place I’d compare or if not say is worse to prison. Support workers will tell you ‘ beggars can’t be choosers” when you address problems in the block. The head of support workers is on a suspended license, it is quite alarming they do not dbs check staff to work with such vulnerable people. Overall I would completely avoid for the sake of your mental and physical well-being. Only less than a handful of staff there are kind and help you.

I use the after-school/holiday club. The staff are always bubbly and smiles. My child always looks forward to going. The holiday club offers so many activities to do, for example, go swimming, have day trips out to the park, go to a museum. Would recommend
