Booked for one night as part of Harry Potter deal but honestly I was very disappointed as it was not cheap. The room was so basic, dark and gloomy. On the ground floor in the extension in room 35. I paid £30 to change rooms which was a room in the attic of the main house. Much larger and brighter but the furniture was quite dirty and fabrics stained. This was room 10. All lamps and main lights were so shockingly bright, that awful blue led lighting. Not cosy at all. We had booked for breakfast but did not bother with it. The staff were pleasant but I truthfully would not stay here again. There was also a party going on into the night. Such loud music, which we were not warned about.

Just returned from a 2-night stay whilst visiting the Harry Potter Studio Tour and we have had a wonderful time. The hotel is warm and inviting, the grounds immaculate and so pretty. After reading some of the previous reviews we were very wary and weren't expecting much. How glad we were that we didn't let them put us off. The room was clean and a good size (didn't have a view but we weren't bothered about that - there was the option to upgrade if we wanted it). Beds were very big and comfy. Food was yummy, although the menu isn't large. There is also room service, which is a nice touch! Staff were super friendly, in fact everyone in the area were so nice! We went for a shop in the nearby town of Hemel Hempstead (Riverside and Marlow shopping areas were great to spend a few hours). We will definitely be visiting again!

We stayed there for 3 nights, mainly for the Harry Potter experience. Not sure what everyone is complaining about, the hotel has its own charm and you'd think Potter fans would appreciate the very in theme interior. The rooms cleaned each day, great customer service. We used Uber to warner bros wasn't that expensive. Train station near by we went into London for a day and the connection is great. The only downside to the rooms is the WIFI doesn’t reach that great to the rooms further from reception and the TV is set on channels there is a screen mirroring option that doesn't work so if you want to watch some movies I would bring a laptop or something similar. The rooms are quite cold we had to use the electric heater provided. But all in all would stay again. Cant say any bad thing that would ruin the trip.

Fabulous hotel in a great location. Staff very friendly and helpful at all times. Rooms are large and very tidy, clean and have everything you need. It is refreshing to see that this hotel still provides daily room service, rooms tidied and beds remade, makings topped up. It just shows how this customer service can still be provided. Some of the mainstream hotel providers like travelodge and Premier should take a good look at the service provided by this hotel. It is still possible and goes a long way to making customers feel comfortable and valued. Thank you Shendish Manor

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for being so accommodating for our Indian wedding ceremony. A special mention to Grace who went above and beyond in meeting our requests, for her advice and assistance from the beginning of our journey, answering all our queries and putting our mind at ease, right the way through to our wedding day. She reassured us throughout this time and gave us confidence that all the finer details would be fulfilled. Thank you to all the team at Shendish Manor on the day including Alex, Jo and the rest of the team for your help and hospitality. We cannot thank you enough for all the advice, recommendations and help during the planning of our wedding, setting up during the day and coordinating with our suppliers. The whole process was so seamless and smooth that we would happily recommend your venue and wedding planning team to anyone thinking of holding their wedding ceremony at Shendish Manor.

A traditional hotel, clean room, comfy bed, good facilities, friendly staff, decent breakfast. Great value if you can get a good price. All very competent and exactly as expected - and to be honest probably totally forgettable, I doubt I will remember staying here. It was convenient and I would definitely stay here again if in the area (as long as Google reminds me that I've been here!)

Very disappointing Christmas afternoon tea. Service was very poor, they were young boys, they weren't rude but clearly hadn't had any training and weren't attentive at all. There was only us and one other table in so they weren't busy or rushed off their feet. When we sat down we were given no menu and just asked if we wanted tea or coffee, no other options. When the food came, again no explanation of what it was, and one was a vegetarian option, again no explanation of what one was different, or even what one was the vegetarian option! Then we were left to it, food was alright, nothing special. Not really worth £25 each though. As we were leaving we found out from another customer we could have had sandwich refills, that wasn't communicated to us at all, which was pretty frustrating because the portions were pretty small. Overall very disappointed, we were hoping for a nice festive afternoon tea and it fell very flat, won't be back again. Got the impression they were trying to appear posh and luxurious but no substance to back it up.

Lovely old country estate hotel. Enjoyed stay, stayed for lunch and dinner as well. food fantastic, cooked perfectly. Staff really helpful. Hotel could do with some updates and redecoration around the place including in rooms. Would stay again. Thank you I enjoyed the 2 day break.
