Just wanted to say hi to my N.8 friends from the past. I spent almost 6 months in this hostel in 2015 and had the best days of my life. I loved living there and it really felt like home - for me and all of the people who never really felt they belonged anywhere. If anyone's reading, I'm Chiara (from Italy!) and I have not forgotten you, Woodberry people. I'm doing well I guess, I hope you are too.

The staff were friendly and tried their best, but overall the hostel felt a bit dodgy. They only take cash, which is inconvenient and doesn’t feel very secure. The crowd staying there was a bit funny, not the most comfortable atmosphere. The rooms were also extremely hot, making it hard to get any proper sleep. It’s okay for a quick last-minute stay, but definitely not the best experience.

It’s a budget place. In certain way I would say it’s alright but I can say level went down since 8 years ago when I was sleeping here. 3 stars to do better, keeping the toilet more clean and ask to the guest don’t leave the own belongings around the room.

A proper budget hostel experience, wild, but worth it. I stayed at this hostel for two full weeks while searching for a flat and instead of choosing a soulless hotel room or Airbnb, I opted for what might be one of the cheapest stays in London. It was a gamble that mostly paid off. The mattresses are worn and you’ll feel every spring, the bunk beds squeak with any movement, however, the cleaners work hard daily to combat the chaos left by careless guests in the kitchen and bathrooms, and the place is mostly clean. The staff are responsive when issues arise. When the radiator in my room broke, they had a plumber working on it till 2 am not ideal timing, but they eventually provided us with a heater. One night, reception messed up and someone woke me at 3 am demanding to know why I was in “their” bed. I stayed calm and directed them to the empty bunk. A complimentary pint would have been a nice gesture for that hassle, but at these prices, I suppose that’s wishful thinking. The showers are surprisingly decent, and the bathrooms are generally well-maintained. The pub downstairs can get loud (snoring guests are louder) but earplugs solved that problem completely. Bottom line: Ignore the harsh reviews from people expecting hotel standards. This is an old-school hostel that provides a clean roof over your head for a fraction of what anything else in London costs. If you approach it with realistic expectations and a sense of humor, you’ll appreciate the value.

Price-Quality is on point. Not far from the tube and amazing staff. Didn't have any problems, everything was fine. Met a lot of cool characters in the bar. What else can one ask for a hostel?

DO NOT STAY HERE - IT IS NOT WORTH IT. Every bad review on here is true. The hostel is on top of a dingy pub with creepy male patrons. The toilets are full of poo and paper. The kitchen is filthy. The rooms and showers are covered in mould. The guests are mostly creepy men. I found several needles on the floor of the smoking area. I checked out after two nights because I was genuinely concerned for my safety.

Stayed 3 days for the weekend. Very good value for money. All the basics you need and general friendly atmosphere. As for connections, 12 minutes walk to underground station and 13 minutes by tube to Oxford Circus, as central as it gets. If you're an aspiring fashion model and 'Live, Laugh, Love', then this might not be the place for you though. 4 stars.

worst experience of my life. do not choose this place because it costs less, I did it and it was a bad idea, spend € 15 more and book elsewhere. here is my experience: I reserved for three nights and didn't even sleep one. as soon as I enter I am greeted by a terrible stench. there are holes in the floor, the black of the dirt on all the walls and I notice two huge mice on the stairs, the bed had not been changed, the pillow has a brown spot where the head rests, on the mattress there are no sheets but only the mattress cover full of hair and little black bits of I don't know what, the stench in the room is sickening. obviously I support my things and in shock I ask a friend if he can host me at his house for the night. the next morning I go to check out because just the thought of setting foot in this horrible place makes me anxious. I ask if I can get the £ 20 deposit back and kindly ask if we can arrange a refund since I paid for three nights and didn't even sleep one. the fat and dirty gentleman, attacks me at the reception, I am in shock, I am even afraid that he will attack me. Horrible and disgusting place and people!

I live here for about a month, it is affordable, neat and clean. People are friendly and don't judge each other. We have our own kitchen and place is super authentic to what they call a real English Pub.
