We stayed at the New Road Hotel in London and overall had a good experience, with some clear strengths and a few points to be aware of. The staff were consistently very friendly, helpful, and accommodating, which made us feel welcome throughout our stay. A real highlight was the food: both breakfast and dinner were excellent and of very high quality. The entrance area is beautifully designed in an industrial style, with lovely decorations β especially during the Christmas season, which created a warm and inviting atmosphere. There is also a small lounge area where guests can help themselves to free coffee and tea, which we appreciated. The room itself was okay, but in our opinion could be improved. It really depends on what you expect. There was no wardrobe, the room felt quite cold and drafty due to insufficient heating, and the walls were very thin. The biggest downside was the shower: it was almost open to the room without a proper shower screen, so the entire floor and surfaces got completely wet every time. You have to be prepared for that. On the positive side, the bed was very comfortable, and there was a TV, which was fine. The hotel is officially rated four stars, which honestly surprised us a bit. As frequent travellers from Germany with relatively high expectations, we felt the room did not quite meet a four-star standard. That said, for an overnight stay it is absolutely fine. We would recommend this hotel to travellers who are looking for a pleasant priceβperformance ratio, want to feel comfortable and welcome, enjoy very good food on site, and value an excellent location. The hotel is located in Whitechapel, an area shaped by Indian and Pakistani communities. Everyone we encountered was friendly, but it is a socially less affluent area, which is something to be aware of. However, the location is excellent in terms of transport: many bus lines and the Whitechapel tube station are right around the corner, with frequent connections in all directions across London. However, travellers who place great importance on a very well-equipped or luxurious room might not find this hotel the right fit.

Stylishly converted building conveniently located by Whitechapel station with fast connection to town via Elizabeth line. Not the best for a good nights sleep. Bedding uncomfortable and noisy street plus my room (206) had a recurring loud noise either from air con (which wasnβt on) or pipes every night. Couldnβt get a table in the restaurant for dinner so had to order in food, plus no coffee in room (substituted by communal instant coffee in Library). As the hotel is owned by a renowned Chef, I expected more from the F&B experience.

I cannot express enough how much I hated my stay here. I have no idea how this place gets a 4+ star review or how it is considered a 4-star hotel. It is on a very loud and dirty street, no parking, loud restaurant and beyond poorly designed tiny rooms. The WORST part was the bathroom / shower. The shower is the bathroom with no barrier, so the entire bathroom is wet - ALL of it. I had standing water for 2 days from 1 shower. It doesn't dry because the light has to be on and it's glass enclosed. And they have the door key gives you power thing so the fan can't run while you are gone. There was mold everywhere and just wet. And to add insult, they don't even give you a bottle of water in your room. You have to buy it from a vending machine. For what they charge a night this should all be criminal. I've stayed at hostels with shared bathrooms that were nicer and felt safer than this hellhole.

Convenient location to visit London (subway nearby). The bedding was very nice! Smart TVs available to cast your own shows. Common areas are inviting. And it was nice to be able to order in room service - namely their pizzas even if not the best Iβve had. The only thing I thought was a shame is I picked this hotel for its amenities but the coffee/tea available is soluble, I didnβt know if I could use the jacuzzi, the fitness area is very tiny and I was also very disappointed by the quality of their breakfast. I regret having bought breakfast vouchers when I could have gotten a way better meal in the neighborhood.

The heating wasnβt working, and we were given a noisy, dusty electric heater. On the second night, we were moved to a better room. We had been promised a full refund for the first cold night, but in the end we only received Β£35. We were also promised a complimentary gesture at the end of the stay, but the promise was never fulfilled. During breakfast, the staff were often busy and not very attentive: coffee, glasses, cups, and cutlery were frequently missing, and we constantly had to ask for them.

Good look and feel on arrival, had dinner included in the package and arrived at 2110 (had already informed of 2100-2200 arrival time - hotel had also responded saying no issues) brilliant front of house member guided me to the restaurant where I was advised they were closing and I couldn't have my evening meal. Theses things happen, not ideal, but miscommunication etc. it happens.... The one thing which unfortunately has led me to decide on probably not returning to the hotel was the noise within the rooms. I had a room on the front of the hotel and to be honest I've never heard so much noise for the entire night. Car racing for what seemed like hours, consistent sirens like i was sat outside a hospital and just general noise was beyond anything I'd ever encountered. Such a shame as it was a lovely room, features etc. etc. but honestly not getting much more than a couple hours sleep is simply not a fair trade off. Everything else was very good, great food/drink options and a great space. Staff at front of house and bar staff, breakfast hostesses were brilliant. I'd imagine if you had a rear room towards the back of the hotel OR triple glazing was installed at the front, this would be up there with one of the best places I'd stayed in London. Tried to be balanced here, so hoping that comes through. Could be amazing.

We had an amazing weekend/stay at the new road hotel. Thanks to the awesome stuff for their service and support. The room was clean and bigger than expected, the design is modern and really cool. Breakfast in the morning was really delicious! We are already looking for dates to come back. Awesome stay with a good connections to downtown and easy access everywhere. Big recommendation!

Overall: Excellent location, Excellent decor, OK room, OK hotel amenities. Depends on the rate your paying for this hotel. We came during Christmas, so rates were higher and this did not give 4 star value at the price we paid. Iβm seeing half the rates we paid now and it would have been totally worth the price at these rates now. Things we loved: - location, excellent if you need to be in so many different parts of London different days. 20 min to almost anywhere. Nice walk to shoreditch too. - clean, housekeeping came daily, even if we left the room late someone always came around by the time we returned in the evening. - modern design, excellent security. - excellent communication via in person and whatβs app when we had questions. Things we did not like: -Heat did not work for 3 of our 7 nights. -Rooms are extremely small - king bed situation was awkward with 3 headboards. - if you donβt have an android phone, you could not connect to the TV. - very limited hanging space / no area to easily keep clothing so we lived out of our suitcases for the week and in such a small room there was no where to walk when suitcases were open. - Restaurant service was a little slow but the food was good, however a bit expensive Β£180 for 4 meals.

Good hotel, nice design. Small but well designed rooms. Good beds. Opening windows, and with closed windows very sound proof for noise from streets. Walking distance from underground and overground station white chapel. Also just about 15 minutes walk to tower bridge or London bridge.

I've stayed at new road quite a few times and I always enjoy my stay. The staff are friendly and I love the games room. It can get noisy at times due to the area but I always ask for a quieter room towards the back of the hotel. Restaurant food is hit and miss but the servers are great. Would stay again and recommend too!
