We had a fabulous evening! The food and cocktails were so good and Amelia, our waitress, is an absolute credit to the restaurant, funny, attentive and kind. Amongst many great food options, the pecan pie was a stand out and the scallops were amazing.We will definitely be back!
I've visited York so many times, and must have frequently walked past this restaurant without noticing it, but on my latest visit I decided on the spur of the moment to have lunch here, and was really glad I did! The two girls who greeted me were lovely, so kind and welcoming! I felt as though I had been transported back to 1920's New Orleans when I entered the bar. Art Deco furnishings, marble top tables, chandeliers above the bar, the exuberant feathers and flowers, and 1920's jazz music in the background. The leather chairs were really comfortable. Had my lunch in the ground floor bar, but there's a larger restaurant and toilets downstairs. Chose a good Merlot from an extensive list of wines and champagne. The tapas style small plates (two plus a side for £19.95) was a great idea, especially as I'm unfamiliar with Creole and Cajun food, allowing me to try different dishes and flavours without getting over-full. There was a wide choice of meat, fish and vegetarian options. Opted for the jambalaya (a deliciously spicy dish of chicken, spiced sausage and prawns with tomato and rice); pulled pork arancinis served with a little pot of chipotle mayonnaise; and pan fried tenderstem broccoli in melted chilli butter, topped with toasted almonds. Nicely presented and wonderful flavours. My only criticism is that they could have been warmer. The Mississippi Mud Pie that I had for dessert was chocolate heaven, topped with whipped cream. Some tempting coffee liqueurs too, but I settled for a nice latte! Attentive and very friendly service from the two waitresses throughout the meal. The restaurant had a really cosy and relaxed vibe. Would definitely come here again!
Beautiful food, amazing service! The staff were so kind and genuine. We had a couple of lovely waitresses who served us. One commented on my dress and complimented me which was lovely at 6 months pregnant feeling big and full of the flu! Will 100% return when we are next in york!.
We visited last night following our engagement and had the best time!! I’d like to shout out Daisy who made our entire time so memorable she deserves loads of credit she’s an amazing member of staff, we were given a lovely card and some free dessert/drinks. I’d also love to shout out Lotty who also made our meal super meaningful and made us so happy following our engagement!
My partner and I booked a table at Nola for our anniversary, and we are so delighted that we did! The atmosphere as you walk in is so relaxing with the jazz music playing. We were shown to our seats and our coats were taken to the cloak room which was lovely. We ordered the duck spring rolls, pork belly, lamb kofta and mac and cheese - this was the perfect amount of food for us. We also both got dessert - I got the chocolate cake and my partner got the pecan pie - both delicious!! Nola also gave us a small dessert on the house and a card for our anniversary which was very special. An anniversary to remember! Thank you Nola.
Booked this for a special occasion. Did not disappoint. Great atmosphere and music with a brilliant menu. Food was delicious and the portions were bigger than I thought. Drinks were beautifully prepared too. Overall, a great choice for a romantic dinner and actually fills your belly up!
Unbelievabley great... My wife booked this for my birthday. The food, drinks, ambience and service are all exceptional. Beef, Pork, Calamari, Spirng Rolls with fries and rice were consumed and all delicious. We even went back the following night for more cocktails... The Amaretto Sours were so so good!
Such a beautiful place and amazing atmosphere. Food is absolutely delicious and beautifully cooked. Staff were friendly and attentive. Booked on a whim as wasn’t disappointed. Will definitely be back.
Gorgeous place for some tapas. The cocktails are delicious! Great place if you are not super hungry, as you can get an assortment of smaller dishes and still have some great food. I think they do live music too.
Found this little gem of a place on our travels. Atmosphere was perfect..staff are so friendly and helpful. Our waitress opened different wines so that we could try which one we liked before ordering, then went through the whole menu with knowledge and professionalism (Top service,which went a long way) and food was absolutely delicious. I would recommend this place to everyone and would return in a heart beat... thank you Nola.
