Damp, cold and mouldy, it smells of toilets throughout. The cleaners hoover the rooms and donβt mop. Showers were so grimy I couldnβt use it. I had a roomie bleaching his sandles. Breakfast and Dinner limited. All the change left is spent on tech. It should be used to improve the condition. The place is outdated and looks like it hasnβt changed since the early 2000βs. Vintage is cool mould is not. Volunteers left because of disrespectful management. New shower panels need to be installed. The hostel requires refurbishing. Rooms need to be painted cracks and mould maintained. Heaters should work, walls and windows should be painted and sanded down. Maintenance is free with an engineer living on site. Small things matter.

Please refrain from booking this place, although the day was very nice at the reception, the place is mess! It is not for backpackers at all, I think many home less people live there also, you can come and go as you like no security. Plus it is very very dirty, the rooms and everything. There is no mattress, it is sponge! The bedsheet has stain on it. I left the hostel within few hours, I definitely was sure I could not spend the night there, and booked another one. I did not get the refund or anything but adding this review so you learn my mistake, if you value cleanliness and comfort and security. This is not the place for you!

This hostel has one of the greatest service Iβve experienced and the free breakfast and dinner is a plus. The staff is great and suggest many activities which makes the staying fun. The bathrooms and other facilities are constantly cleaned. Rooms are a bit small so we can easily feel packed.

The best thing about Saint James Backpackers, London is very convenient location. Hardly 5 min walk from Earlβs Court Tube Station. The Hostel lane is very calm & quite, hardly any traffic. Building : Hostel is warm and cozy with super atmosphere. They have community hall with Big screen TV plus a small dinning room and backyard garden to sit, chat or eat. Ample of clean showers & bathrooms, but they are small sized. Stairs are bit dicey & narrow, especially while carrying luggage. No lift. They have small gym/gym equipment in garden. They also have cloakroom to keep the luggage after check outs. Rooms: Rooms are neat, clean with a big window. Beds are comfortable but just okay sized. Not suitable for tall or plus size person. They have casket with lock under each bed. Wash basin in every room. Food: Very nice Complimentary breakfast. They also provide made to order egg preparations. Thatβs really good. Complimentary limited Dinner !! cooked by the staff is served @ 7 pm everyday. Really wonderful. Round the clock Coffee/Tea, which is an added enjoyment. Self catering kitchen is small but a great help. Staff: Staff is young, energetic, kind, helpful, polite and willing. They always have smile on the face an attentive all the time. Other: Variety of restaurants, grocery shops nearby. Earls Court Tube has good connectivity (Piccadilly, District line) Overall very good Hostel for short stay. Maximum facilities in budget price. Will stay again next time.

I enjoyed this hostel but the stairs, so many stairs! Good vibes, clean room and cool staff. Outside area and common areas were good and clean. Rooms were normal hostel quality. Taking one star off because the plumbing was out in one bathroom the day we were there but don't hold it against them. I would stay there again but first check that the plumbing was good.

Itβs cheap, so donβt expect it to be super clean and nice. However, me and my friends came here while studying abroad and stayed for a weekend in London and had a good experience. The staff and other residents are very friendly, and the outdoor patio is clean. One thing I recommended is to bring your own towel, otherwise you have to pay. Also, maybe flip flops for the shower. Otherwise, itβs great for students on a budget!

Do not stay here. Sheets were dirty, beds are so squeaky every time you move in the night in wakes you up, the pillows are so flat, we were given a single bed sized blanket for a double bed in the middle of winter so we were freezing. Bathrooms were dirty and the whole place smells so bad. Would rather sleep in a prison than stay here again. The hostel should spend their money on basic amenities rather than a oversized tv that looks ridiculous in the common area.

The location is grat, and the place is ok if you need a place to spend the night. I wouldn't stay here for a longer period. Also, there aren't any lockers so it's a bit tricky to guard your valuables.

There was a bad bedbug outbreak last week of august I heard from 1 of the other visitors who left after I did. the guest were mostly very nice. The bathrooms need lots of work, the showers are so small you have to stand in the shower to close the door. toilets and showers need to be in separate rooms showers should be boys or girls only with curtains there no way to lock your stuff and they only had instant coffee place desperately needs some AC room were 40c even window fans would have made a huge differences general laziness and lack of care by staff keeps it from being a very nice place to stay
