Ate here multiple times but have to mention the food quality has gone downhill on the last two visits. The burgers had an old taste and were quite dry and tasted pre cooked. Quite disappointing, as a local we would like for it to be back to its best.

Seven of us went to celebrate my dad's birthday on a Tuesday evening. We had a variety of main meals all of which were absoluely delicious including both of the pie options (Tuesday is pie night). If you have not been before the pub has a lovely ambience. Desipte the fact that the pub was busy - always a good sign - and the fact that there were only two staff working front of house - the service was excellent..and finally speaking as a Yorkshireman great value for money.

A fantastic little pub, great service, atmosphere and good value for money. My girlfriend and I went for an evening meal this week, we chose both meals of the special offer board, My girlfriend had Beef bourguignon and I had the Pork chop with potatoes and veg (both meals for £21). The quality of the food was excellent, the ladies serving were lovely. what a great little pub!

Just eaten here tonight as it was recommend by our Air B&B. Seen a few reviews on here stating the service was poor. I've no idea what went wrong, but the service me and my wife had was great. Polite, professional and service with a smile. The food was very nice, especially the pork belly bites appetiser. We went on a day where the Burger was buy 1 get 1 free, which we thought was great value at £18. The burger was nicely made, and we both liked the fact it wasn't "stacked" like most burgers usually are. We could actually fit it in our mouths. We would definitely go back here. Can be seen as quite pricey for some dishes but after the experience we had, I'd pay that again.

Really didn't enjoy my experience here at bulls head pub! After finally been just me and my partner alone without the dogs and kids after a busy Christmas we was excited to try the bullshead pub after passing by this residence often when heading for a walk at blackmoorfoot res. So to start we was seated in an area on our own for the first 5 mins only to have two family's come in to the area where they was with a couple of wet dogs from their walks so we asked if we could maybe move to somewhere dog free and be able to relax with our meal which they sorted for us and we was thankful for that. The residence had the heating on but there was terrible Draft from somewhere and we couldn't take our coats off without been uncomfortable so we kept them on (we also noticed most other diners with jumpers or coats on too) Our mains came and I was slightly underwhelmed at the my plate of mostly salad and Coleslaw, my burger meat was thin and was a bit lost on the big bread bun and I had 10 hefty chips but would have liked more. Overall I enjoyed the taste but I would have liked more food. My partner enjoyed her cajun chicken skewers but didn't think there was much on the plater either and she would have like some more chicken meat, she said her chips were a bit hard and burnt. Desserts were horrendous! I had a pistachio cheesecake with ice cream and I have never tasted anything more strange in my life, the cheesecake had no biscuit base and was all just a foam consistency which tasted nothing like pistachios and only of an overpowering taste of marzipan. It was just a plate of mush with no crunch and looked as undesirable as it tasted. My partners chocolate fudge cake and custard was a bland sponge with an over watery custard! Service: The food here isn't the cheapest but the service was akin to a low grade cheap restaurant! The waitress we had was young and shy and didn't seem like she was in the right job, she didn't once say to us to enjoy our meal and we didn't get asked once if everything was ok with our meals whilst or after eating them. I put my cheesecake to the end of the table after having one bite from it and it was left there until the waitress cleared our tables 15 minutes later.. After passing by our table and seeing I hadn't eaten it on at least 6 occasions to tend with others, She then eventually asked if we had done but didn't asked if we enjoyed it or why I didn't eat it, so I said to her I didn't like my dessert that's why I haven't eaten it and she said sorry and then just took the food away. We was then left sat there for 10 minutes while the waitress tended to other customers not knowing wether the bill was coming to our table or if we had to go to the bar. We eventually got up and went to the bar to pay. We will not be returning here as the food didn't match the prices and the hospitality was very under par. We felt like we wasted the very rare time we got to ourselves.

Called in during overnight stop in motorhome, great village location with excellent food at a reasonable price.

After a difficult uphill walk from the Manchester road (doing physio for a recent knee operation). I was so glad to see the welcoming pub sign. It's wasn't open yet (which was also a bonus as we could rest for 10 minutes). Lol After a very friendly welcome, drinks served and food arrived swiftly. Proper home cooked, fresh, tasty and hearty food. We both ordered the Hot Roast Beef sandwich and chips! Perfect fuel for my walk back home! Superb and well recommended guys!

Hard to find real home cooked food these days. This place did not disappoint. Had lamb shank/veg and dad had ribs dinner. Both superb. Staff friendly. I'll travel the 30 miles from Manchester to enjoy a real meal. Nice country drive out too

We had the beef Sunday dinner and it was lovely. All 4 of us were very happy with the food and had clear plates! We also all had dessert, chocolate fudge cake, lemon tart, apple pie and cheesecake all good! Again, clear plates! The pub is lovely too. The staff are attentive and friendly. They were also very accommodating of our dog and brought him a bowl of water. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back!

My family and friends came here for Sunday lunch and we all like the Sunday roast alot. I think it's the best Sunday roast I have had so far. Soft meat, well roasted sweet veg and the gravy is fabulous (I like thick gravy). Really enjoyed the meal and will come back. Highly recommened
