We had a lovely long weekend with our 2 dogs. Very warm, cosy rooms with comfortable beds. The owner’s lovely and a real dog lover. Breakfast had a good selection of cold choices and the cooked breakfast was very nice. It was great that dogs were welcomed in the breakfast lounge. There was a park opposite to walk our dogs in the morning and before bed which was handy. It was a 15/20 min walk into town. Parking was a little difficult as there were only a few spaces in the car park but there is free on road parking outside the property. Had a really relaxed atmosphere and our dogs were made to feel really welcome. Would definitely recommend this place for a break in York especially if you’re looking for somewhere of quality to stay with your dog. Also a mention to The Nag’s Head just round the corner. A local pub that’s welcoming with great staff and does good food.

Clean but very small rooms with flimsy small beds. Limited breakfast items. For example only one of each pastry, and only three small pieces of cheese and ham for at least 20 guests that were there. Nothing replenished during the service. Dining room very cramped with an adjoining 'living room' area that was never used and would be ideal for extending the dining area into, to make it more comfortable to move between the tables. Small car park that was full the time we were there. On the whole a clean but limited by its size establishment that was expensive comparing it to many other hotels we have used.

We stayed at Ascot House for a few days last week. This is our 3rd visit to York, and our 3rd time staying here. As always it was a pleasure. June , the proprietor is so lovely, as are all the staff. The room was very spacious, comfortable bed , fabulous bathroom. It is in a great location, a short stroll into town. The breakfast is first class. Susanne & John.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay, beautiful victorian house decorated in keeping with its era. Very Comfortable 4 poster bed, and very clean with a modern bathroom. The breakfast was amazing and the staff were all so lovely. Dog friendly too! Just 15 minutes walk from the shambles. Will definitely stay here again, and thank you for making us so welcome.

We really enjoyed our stay here all the staff were very friendly and very helpful nothing was too much trouble for them and I would quite happily stay here again. The accommodation and the grounds are beautiful and everything is spotless. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and catering staff were very attentive. It is only a 15 walk into York or 5 minutes on the bus that stops just outside. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.

What a lovely find ! And what a pleasure to stay at Ascot House. Greeted by owner June Wood who was very informative…… a lovely lady. Our room was just as we requested, walk in shower, king size bed ( four poster )tea and coffee making facilities, colour tv, quiet surroundings. Breakfasts were brilliant, choice of cold meats and cheese, cereals, yoghurts, croissants, and that’s before full English or choice of cooked breakfast items. All staff were very attentive and helpful with nothing being too much trouble. Will definitely return….. probably the best B&B I’ve stayed in !

Lovely place to stay. Old house with decor to match which was fantastic. We had a 4 poster bed which wasn't expected and was very comfortable. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the breakfast was one of the best we have had. Highly recommended, we shall endeavour to stay again if we visit York again.
