On arrival in Knaresborough we were looking for the "Newton House Hotel" only to be informed that the name had changed. There was no sign showing that the hotel entrance was behind the building. The car park was entered by a very narrow entrance from a busy main road, mind your wing mirrors and bodywork! Disappointing breakfast, scrambled eggs and baked beans were just warm, and the bacon was dry, this was politely mentioned to the staff. Shower was a challenge as the water flow was very slow. Other than that the room was clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable. Our room was at the rear of the building so very quite. There was a good sitting room to use. The staff were polite friendly and helpful. Hotel is central to the town and near the bus station. Being disappointed would not stay again.

A nice room, but the radiator wasn't working. Took some time to find someone to bring in a heater. After that, great. Unfortunately, I couldn't stay for breakfast. About a ten minute walk to the train station. It is on the main road, but my room was at the back and very quiet.

Pleasant traditional English B&B hotel. Easy parking. Welcoming host. The single room was cosy and comfortable. Lots of tea/coffee options in the room plus paid mini bar snacks & drinks. Great quality breakfast. Location perfect for walking into town.

Sorry in advance Orchard House! We chose this facility because of the previous great reviews but what a mistake! The photographs shown are completely misleading. This property is not a hotel, it is a B&B, its is situated on a very very busy main road and traffic is passing from early in the morning until late at night. Unfortunately we had a room at the front of the hotel and even using the ear plugs provided (we did think it strange) we didn’t get much sleep and were woken very early both mornings we were there. The reception area, if you could call it that, is accessed via a small conservatory type building at the rear of the premises, it is not signposted and we only found it by luck! The car park access in my opinion is dangerous, to access it you have a tight turn into a very narrow passage off the busy main road taking care not to hit any pedestrians, if you have a large car you have no chance! This choice of lodgings was made more annoying as it was the more expensive of 2 we we’re looking at, as there was no bar at Orchard House we walked 10 minutes along the road to The Knaresborough Inn(our other choice), what a difference! This was a quieter location, it had a bar and served food, which by the way was delicious and it had an easier access to the river, also it would have been £60 cheaper for our stay. Well we live and learn. On the plus side the staff at Orchard House were friendly and the breakfast was very nice. Would we stay there again? Not a chance!

We have had a delightful stay. A lovely independent hotel where every one tried their best to make sure we had everything we needed. The bedrooms were themed to plants. Ours was Papaya, and it was clean and very comfortable. A top class breakfast cooked to order. I can recommend the full English and Eggs Benedict. If we had stayed another day, I would have tried the salmon and scrambled eggs.

Stayed with my family (2 adults +2 children) For 2 nights and it was an amazing experience. The room was spacious and warm, the beds and pillow were surprisingly comfy. When I read some of the reviews I was concerned but after some research I found out the b&b was under new management so I am glad I gave it a go! Staff is friendly and helpful, they seem to be happy working there and show that by interacting with guests. Breakfast was Awesome! Plenty of nice, delicious warm food and good variety to choose from. Vegan option was a big plus! I couldn’t be happier about our time at Newton House. Thank you Cici and Rapha.

I stayed just overnight but the hotel gave me such a warm welcoming lasting impression of my stay in Knaresborough. Denise was a very caring and thoughtful host as I have M.E. the decor of the Rennie Mackintosh room 7 is stunning as is the rest of the guest house. Lovely breakfast. Would highly recommend

Couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Was a genuine pleasure. Tony, the relief manager, was brilliant; everything explained to me, and any questions I had were answered immediately. The bath — wow, can’t remember a bath that filled up quicker. Everything about the stay was just about perfect. Bed was huge and comfortable. I was out all day and returned in the evening, so my experience was limited to breakfast and my room; both were fantastic. Highest possible recommendation.
