Lovely country pub, very warm and welcoming. Recommend booking as busy for Sunday lunch yet very good and quick service. Good value smaller portion adequate for kids or those who arenβt big eaters.

We came here on a recce as looking for somewhere to book to bring my 90 year old father in law for his birthday. We were in our motorhome Β£15 per night including breakfast. Toilet facilities both separate and in hotel. The staff are lovely, attentive, friendly and funny ( good sense of humour) . Its dog friendly throughout even in the rooms apparantly. Needless to say we have booked the birthday celebrations which will be a surprise for him. All in all a great experience. Starters: garlic mushrooms and chef's pate.....delightful Mains seafood hanging kebab ( wasn't keen on) and chicken breast with garlic new potatoes, cream, leek and bacon sauce and seasonal veg....loved it. Oh and not forgetting desert....after eight tart with ice cream .....very nice and moreish especially with the crunchy bit on top. Would thoroughly recommend.

Brilliant stay at The Old Stone Trough! Had a fantastic time here, the night worker took the time to sit down with us and have a good chat, which you donβt see very often these days. All the staff were so attentive and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. I had the mussels and they were great, full of flavour and cooked perfectly. The food overall was absolutely class, proper quality and great portions too. Couldnβt fault a thing, weβll definitely be coming back!

The food was lovely especially considering how reasonably priced it was however the staff weren't attentive at all. We got seated right away but once we got our drinks and food we were never spoken to again. No offer of additional drinks or asking how everything was and despite sitting with empty plates and glasses for 20 minutes we had to go to the bar to ask for the bill. There were three members of staff on duty and only two tables (including our own) in at the time.

Stayed at The Old Stone Trough for four nights and we were pleasantly surprised. The managers and Staff are excellent and nothing is too much trouble for them . The rooms are clean, comfortable and warm. The food is very plentiful and reasonably priced , Great cooked breakfast and cereals, make a great start to the day. An all in great package well priced. Thanks, will be visiting again

Had the most amazing stay for 3 nights here. Nothing was too much trouble here. A huge thank you to Kristiann and all the staff for making us feel very welcome and having good banter with us- the big debate over whether we drove through clouds or fog is still ongoing! The rooms in the annex were very clean, presented well and above all comfortable to sleep in. Meals and drinks in the restaurant and bar were very nice- full English breakfast provided on the morning with cereals; all very tasty Thanks again for the wonderful stay- we will definitely be back

Stayed here many times over the years and always love it but a little disappointing this time. Very small room (number 3) disappointing, cheaply done bathroom. No cooked full English breakfast but more than adequate continental one, but no mention when booking and certainly no mention to us by very rude Sunday morning waitress! No doubt we'll be back again but the old stone trough need to be aware there is other hotels in the area, just because it's busy in the run up to Christmas doesn't mean it can treat others poorly

Really nice place and great rural setting. Very tastefully decorated in the bar area. Food excellent as was service. Partner said there was an odd smell in room (I couldn't smell anything but nothing new!) Duvet cover creased which was a little of a downer....had someone been laying on it? Otherwise all great.
