Mrs. A & I stumbled upon this AMAZING property while looking for a place to eat on our last night in Edinburgh. It reminded us so much of our go to Italian restaurant here, across the pond. The place was PACKED with locals, which to us is always a very good sign. We believe it to be a family run restaurant & they treat you like family !! A MUST (& it is NOT often that I give the FULL FIVE !!) Grazie - SPA007

Our visit here was quite unusual. The owner was very friendly and welcoming, but the food itself left us confused. The pizza dough was strange and definitely not Italian-style, and the pizza overall lacked flavor. The chicken in the pasta did not seem fresh, which was disappointing. Instead of receiving a proper receipt, we were given handwritten prices on a piece of paper, which felt unprofessional. Honestly, I don’t know what to think about this place β€” it had a nice atmosphere thanks to the owner, but the food and overall experience were far from satisfying.

Nice atmosphere and friendly staff - could do with more staff as we had to wait a while for our bill and my fiance had to go up and pay. The food was decent, good portion sizes, the lasagne was delicious. My fiance had a pizza with olives that still had the pits in so please be careful if you have olives in a dish especially if your kids decide to have a olive dish. Overall the food was good value for money.

I had a great experience at this Italian restaurant. The food was delicious overall. The ravioli was absolutely amazingβ€”perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The pizza was also tasty, though the vegetables on top could have been cooked a little more. The service was excellent. All the staff were friendly, welcoming, which made the atmosphere even better. I would definitely come back again

Popped over the first time. Throwback from something from Ramsay kitchen nightmares in the early 00s, tired interior, menus were old and manky. Interior is stuck in the 90s, the menus need updated (use canva and then vista print to print them) Service is cool, does the job. Food was absolutely abysmal, frozen pizza bases, frozen pasta from packets. Chef in the back looked majorly unhygienic.the gnocchi was overwhelmed in mozzarella cheese, was like chewing gum. The reviews of this place are stellar, however my god. It’s one of the worst establishments i have ever been to. Everything is frozen made, service is meh, interior needs a major overhaul. 1/5.

Super Italian restaurant near Leith in Edinburgh. Food and service is really top. We enjoyed the relaxed and cosy atmosphere. You feel yourself very welcome in this restaurant. Perfect pick for a nice evening out with our friends. Thank you !

Pizzas seemed authentic and made in-house. Very tasty. Staff were friendly and service was prompt. Cosy restaurant with a lot of character. Great experience all round.

The pizza was a flat frozen kinda affair with some sort of sauce, precious little cheese and burnt at the end. The pasta was basically watered down tomato paste with very little flavor. I’m half Italian and I’m quite sure my grandmother is rolling in her grave at the thought of an Italian restaurant serving what basically amounted to a lean cuisine meal and calling it good. If I could give a negative star review I would. I’m sure that the fact that we came in with a group was the reason we were served the bad food, they took advantage of the situation and I hope no more tour companies use them in the future.

If I could give this 0 stars I would. We chose to eat at Jolly’s in a large group (approximately 30 people), to which we made a reservation for. The first picture is what the entire group was given, there were no other options. The crust on the pizza appears to be from a frozen pack of some sort, the sauce is just plain tomatoes (no seasoning or flavor, almost like tomato paste), the cheese was fine, and it was poorly cooked. As you can see from the picture, the crust is burned, and the center is undercooked. Almost as if it was cooked at a high heat at a short time to accommodate the group. The second image is of another pizza that was served at the same time as us. It appears to be real wood fired pizza, the crust is bubbled and the presentation is wonderful. Extremely disappointed.

Staff were really friendly. Having the half pizza and pasta is something I have always wanted to try and it didn't disappoint! The pizza was cooked beautifully and tasted amazing. The pasta was nice but there was a tiny bit too much sauce for my liking. Still worthy of 5 stars though! Prices were very reasonable aswell for busy City Street. Highly recommend.
