We came here with my wife to have chicken shish and ribs. Both of them were delicious, chicken was so juicy and ribs were perfectly cooked. Owner and the staff was very friendly. Decoration of the place reminded one of the small Turkish taverns in Beyoglu! I would definitely visit here if i will ever come to Edinburgh again!
Phoned booked for big group arrived. the owner was so stressed very rude. Place is small was not ready some of the group had to be separated downstairs Food was average but cold. Asked for modified menu but insisted on a set menu per head not to share found shared when presented. Although the owner/cook apologised but I feel that I have to share my experience for them to improve. I attach the photo to proof that we’ve been there as I see some of the owner’s comment questioning the presence of some who left negative comments.
Been coming here for years and it has never once disappointed. It is inexplicably often pretty quiet, but don't let that deceive you - the food is incredible, and the owner is a lovely guy. They say you can tell when someone loved making the food they serve you, and that sums this place us to a T.
Awful experience at Pera Turkish in Edinburgh. The place is tiny, poorly decorated, and has no air conditioning. They leave the door open, so noise, pollution, and car fumes from the busy road come straight in. The food was bland with very small portions. Service was extremely rude. One waiter dropped the plates on the table and disappeared. They overcharged us for items we never ordered and refused to correct the bill. This was the worst service I have ever experienced. We came hoping for a special evening and left completely disappointed. Avoid this place. There are much better restaurants nearby. That’s why they were the only eatery empty in the whole lovely area.
Just had our first meal in Edinburgh and wow – Pera completely stole our hearts. We got takeout from this adorable little Turkish spot, and it was honestly one of the best meals we’ve had in a while. So full of flavour, fresh, and made with real love. The sweetest part? The owner surprised us with some baklava on the house – such a kind gesture and it was absolutely delicious. It made us feel so welcomed. Even though we just popped in to pick up our food, the place itself is so beautifully done – warm, cozy, and full of character. We’re here for three days, and this meal set the perfect tone for the trip. Can’t wait to go back again before we leave!
Had the banquet absolutely delicious loads of choice all cooked to perfection. Great host explained all the different dishes and flavours.Small restaurant but nice atmosphere. very reasonably priced.
Authentic atmosphere. Great food. Friendly service. They offer a banquet which includes cold and hot starters, a mix grill main and dessert. At £30 per head, it's gone up a lot in price in just the last couple of years and is on the steep side but still just about worth it.
Absolutely delightful food. 100% recommend the banquet - you will not be disappointed but make sure you arrive hungry! I’m coeliac & was catered for wonderfully - alternate dishes served and plated up separately including gluten free bread for the starter.
I am seriously considering licking the plate! How they manage to get such good food... Arrived with some expectations as I saw the other reviews but I have to honestly say, it really exceeded expectations .I can not describe how good it was, plus thumb up for the ldie who serve us,so nice and lovely!, this is not a dinner, it's an experience Great and I can not recommend enough ..you MUST try
