I used to live round the corner from here, when I moved to Wardlaw, in 2018 and loved it. Memories of when I first went there, as an 11 year old, after a Hearts game, in 1974... An institution. In 2025, I've just had a fish and chips carry-out from TGFB, with my parents, tonight. All of it was delicious and all of it got eaten, so I can't even post a photo! I foresee a Century of The Gorgie Fish Bar. Deeeeeeelicious.

I had such a great experience at this Italian fish and chip shop in Edinburgh. The food was fresh, flavourful, and felt. The fish and chips were crispy, light, and perfectly seasoned—easily some of the best I’ve had in the city. I also tried their half-veg, half-chicken pizza, and it was outstanding. Whether you’re craving classic fish and chips or want something a bit different like their pizzas, this place is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended!

Very authentic food, the fish doesn’t come with complimentary chips. The staff seemed a bit grumpy, and it’s takeaway only.

Lived in Edinburgh for 20 years now and, ah man, I wish I had discovered this place earlier! In my opinion, they serve best fish and chips in Edinburgh, possibly even in Scotland! Fish is fried to order, covered in delicious crispy batter, is well drained before serving, and the chips are superb too. 10/10 for quality, freshness, service, value.

Orered via Just Eat. I got a fish supper and steak pie. Strangely the fish was seperately wrapped in plastic, which meant it got very soggy - not crispy at all. Same thing with the steak pie. Chips came in styrophone box but those were soggy too. Wouldn't order again.

This place is amazing! My husband and I both ordered the dressed haddock and it was amazing! The chips were great too. They do have kids options. Our 10 year old had chicken nuggets and chips and loved it. The portion sizes are perfect and the price is great!
