We were greeted with a very warm welcome, staff were very attentive and friendly. We started with poppadoms and homemade chutneys, the spiced diced onion one was delicious, we then began with ordering King Prawn Puri, delicious sauce with a mellow sweetness that complimented the prawns nicely, and an Indian take on nachos, called Pachos which had crackers of poppadoms in place of nachos and garnished with cheese, a spicy fragrant sauce, pomegranate and red onion with coriander and other spices, we loved this as it was incredibly refreshing, totally different and worth a try. For our mains, we had lamb Rogan Josh and lamb and chickpea Mughlani Chana, in both dishes the lamb was tender and the curries were beautifully seasoned, my partner isn't a big fan of chickpeas but he really enjoyed the Mughlani Chana! We had pilau rice and garlic naan to accompany our mains, and they were a perfect match! Rice was perfectly cooked and the naan was crispy on the edges and soft on the inside!

Food was great, with good portions and very tasty (to the spicy side, but maybe it was us), decor and music were also very pleasing, and the staff was amazing! Made us feel right at home.

We are visiting for a week and a friend recommended this place. And it was one of the best places in Edinburgh. The food was excellent and fresh, and the staff was friendly. They welcomed us with a smile and prepared a table with a baby chair far from the noise. They also helped with the menu options.

The Guru is hands down one of the best restaurants in Edinburgh! From the moment you step through the doors, you're welcomed with warm hospitality and an inviting atmosphere. The decor is modern and stylish, with soft lighting that creates a cozy and intimate ambiance. But let's talk about the food - it's simply outstanding! The menu features a range of North Indian and dishes, all expertly prepared with the freshest ingredients and bursting with flavor. The standout dish for me was the butter chicken - it was so rich and creamy, with just the right amount of spice. The service at The Guru is top-notch as well. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, and he offered great recommendations for dishes and drinks. The drinks menu is also worth exploring, with a fantastic selection of wines, beers, and cocktails. Overall, I can't recommend The Guru enough. Whether you're looking for a romantic date night spot or a place to celebrate a special occasion with friends and family, this restaurant is a must-visit. You won't be disappointed!

It was our first time going here and we did check out the reviews and pictures and from what we saw and read we thought we'd give this place a try. We ordered the chicken pakora and seekh kebabs which was decent and for drinks we got mojitos which were also decent and for starters we got butter chicken along with plain boiled rice, now if you know what butter chicken is suppose to look like then you'd know that it's yellowish in colour and creamy and saucy, our butter chicken totally did not look like it was butter chicken and it didn't even taste like butter chicken. As you can see from the pictures attached the "butter chicken" does not look like butter chicken, it just looks like just a normal chicken curry. So all in all it was disappointing the only thing we did enjoy was the chicken pakoras, seekh kebabs and the mojitos. Also what we paid for the food was totally not worth it and just for two people as well.

Decent curry. Their naan is easily shared as they're big. Only thing to note is that they don't serve alcohol so it's strictly BYOB. There's a co-op nearby but those that love a Beer with their curry, make sure you've packed one.

Came here on a work outing and they managed to fit in all 14 of us with ease. The 'family naans' were absolutely massive and fed us well: somehow we managed to eat pretty much all of them! My korma was delicious and the perfect size so that I could feel full without overindulging. The staff were also very friendly and they have cool taps in the toilets!
