The pub in Riccarton In is like a hidden gem. I say hidden despite it being pretty busy everytime I’ve been here. But the service and the food has never disappointed me. I’ve been here as a student, with my wife and most recently with my kids and I’ve always enjoyed the vibe of this place only second to the friendly staff. Would be back again.

Old rustic inn with easy access to a bus that takes you to city center in 40 minutes. We stayed in the twin room which was extremely small and in need of some deep cleaning - the sheets and bathroom were clean, but there were cobwebs and dust all over the curtains and in some corners along the ceiling, some mold in the shower, paint peeling off in places. The radiator switched off the first night and with no extra blankets in the rooms, I slept terribly cold. At least it stayed on through the second night.

Excellent service and quality of food served . Good variety of menu with something for most tastes. Excellent preparation and presentation suggests that the chef could be allowed to stretch their creativity. Venue is couthy and cosy and well patronized by the local community. Great outside booth but inside could use a little attention in places especially around the TV end where it's a little cramped and the styling is tired. A real fire would be a real feature if possible.Dogs and families are welcome.

As a single traveller I booked the restaurant online which was quick and simple. The restaurant was very loud and busy and I was seated next to a party. The service was brisk and efficient. The food was good and I enjoyed it. I paid by card and wasn’t given the option to add gratuity. Before leaving I checked my receipt and it said it had already been added but was optional. How is that optional if you’re not given an option. I thought that was a bit cheeky. I would have left a tip anyway but didn’t like the way the restaurant went about this.

Decided to stay at the Riccarton Inn while working in the area and glad I did. Rooms are basic, but comfortable and are perfect for my needs. The bar seems very popular with locals, despite this, the service is swift and even though we have only been there once we were well attended to. The food is excellent, as is the beer! I will be back in the area in a couple of weeks and will be booking into The Riccarton Inn. Don't be put off by the lack of an available breakfast, just head along to Molly's or Corner Cafe for a fantastic breakfast. It's understandable that no breakfast is provided as there are only 5 bedrooms.

Nine of us had a wonderful meal here with very good service, tasty and generous portions of food, great value for money. Nice atmosphere, warm and friendly. We hope to go back again as soon as we can. Thank you for a lovely time Riccarton Arms, it was great and we highly recommend you.

Stopped in for lunch on a whim, and ordered the fish and chips. It was honestly one of the best I've had in years. The fish was chunky and beautifully battered in light and crispy batter. Perfect proportion of chips, mushy peas and sauces. Only downside is it was so good, I'll feel bad ordering anything else when I come back. Delightful!

Had a great stay, and although my room was a bit tired, the welcome was warm and the food was excellent. The room was clean and tidy, great towels and quality bed linen. Also very quiet in the rooms, as they are away from the pub part of the building. Thanks for a very enjoyable visit

I pop in here now and again when visiting my daughter. As a fan of real ale I love the choices and the quality. Food looks good but yet to eat there. Nice pub
