The food was outstanding. We ordered three main dishes, a bunch of starters and a dessert. Everything was hot and delicious. We spent about £50 and that has fed four people comfortably with leftovers. This was Home delivery and it arrived quickly. Will definitely order again.

No clue what the critical reviews are all about. Food is always tasty and service is spot on. Collect from here all the time and it's wicked quick. Try it and you won't be disappointed, especially the chana puri. Excellent veggie options too.

*atmosphere*... hah! If this food had atmosphere, it would be akin to the crushing hell of Venus or the desolate expanse of the Moon. The "vindaloo" had less flavour than a basic flour roux. The saag aloo had only one thing going for it - it wasn't blended to pieces. The lamb was at least of good texture and not too tough, which would have been pleasant, had it come in a sauce with any flavour whatsover. The rice was as dry as if it had sat around all night since the beginning of the restaurant opening hours. Honestly, for this price, I could have gotten a taxi around Edinburgh and found all the best ingredients to cook it myself - especially considering Shapla had failed to put most of them in this dish. Truly shocking! It arrived luke warm and I think the chef has given up on his profession. I've half of the dish left and I'd be reticent to give it to someone on the street as I'd feel sorry for their experience after. £20+ pound down the drain, and I could have spent it on a takeaway I've given 2 stars to, for a less regretable experience. Shame.

We love this restaurant. Regularly used for our takeaway and it doesn't disappoint. Such high quality meals that consistantly taste amazing and quicker delivery than most.

This really wasn't great at all and that's being kind! Chicken vindaloo was very bland indeed and the size of Naan was disappointing also. This place used to be really good but best avoided.

I don't say this lightly - the East Indian Chicken Jalfrezi was honestly one of the best meals that I have ever had. I see some of the negative reviews for this place, and I just didn't experience any of that. The two people working were incredibly kind and welcoming, the food was certainly not dry, and the meal was amazing. For those of you who have a high spice tolerance, and are tired of asking for very spicy food and not getting the spice, Shapla has you covered! I highly recommend!

Terrible! This was really awful... 3 supposedly different dishes all covered in the same orange gloop. The meat was all dry and tough like little bullets in this sludge.. The chapati had been microwaved into a hard, tough inedible disc. The worst takeaway Indian meal I've ever had. Didn't feel like it was freshly cooked. First and last order here! Like someone else said back to Kebab Mahal which serves amazing and consistently good food.
