The room was warmer than the food! We’ve been put off booking Brel because of the reviews about poor service but someone booked this so that’s how we ended up here. We arrived and waited at the front desk for about 5 minutes…a sign of things to come. We were seated and told someone would be right back to take drink orders. The rest of the party turned up. Still no one been over. Finally someone came over and took the drinks orders. She came back fairly quickly to take the food orders. Shortly after she was back with side plates (the 4 adults were sharing the Christmas lunch platters). Still no drinks so she said she’d chase them. Then arrived with 5 drinks for a table of 6. Missing one of the pints. Very soon after the food arrived which seemed very quick. The reason for the speed? It hadn’t actually been warmed through, it was all luke warm. In guessing the idea is that the gravy on the fondue heater is supposed to warm it through? Problem is ours went out twice and they didn’t even try to relight it after that. The food was tasty enough but the gravy was thin and not enough for 4 roasts and not warm enough to heat up the food. We noticed that 2 people sharing got the same amount of gravy to share. I think if either couple had been there alone they’d have complained about the temperature and had it sent back. This was about 3pm so I’m guessing the ingredients had been sitting in chafing dishes for a while and lost some of their cooking heat. The dessert fondue was good. We ordered a second round of drinks while the kids had dessert and they had to be chased three times (two pints and a bottle of cider). We ordered the bill when they finally arrived as we had a panto to get to. Service was very reactive. They’d drop plates off at the table next to you and not think to check in on whether you needed anything, it was always a case of flagging them down. They definitely need more staff and more staff training. With so many options in the area we won’t be back any time soon

Don’t be fooled by social media came from Dundee for a roast not worthy of Toby Carvery Sunday roast was stone cold had to be returned along with table opposite. Fillet steak was unavailable and swapped with 3 slices of roast beef for the same price. Were seated outside but rain was leaking through Perspex roof onto table so had to ask to be moved. First roast came and was cold had to be returned then second roast came and was look warm at best. I appreciate the fondue is there for warm gravy to warm the meat a bit but wouldn’t stay lit the whole time we were there so gravy went cold very quick despite staff relighting 3 times overall one of worst meals I have eaten in Glasgow for £79.80 for a roast to share 2 french martinis and 2 flat morettis Pints of lager flat also as per pics

Enjoyed the Sunday roast fondue, menu said it’s good for 2 but the 4 of us were stuffed after sharing. Steak was beautifully pink, gravy was perfectly salty, carrots and parsnips caramelised and Yorkshire massive!! Incredibly happy and what a fun and unique way to eat a roast. Dessert fondue was also lovely, pears were fresh and the marshmallows were soft and we were very happy.

The Sunday Roast dinner was absolutely fantastic. Every part of it was perfect and it really was a brilliant meal. The dessert fondue was also different class and really topped the meal off nicely. I cant recommend this meal option highly enough. Absolutely fantastic

Went to try their Sunday roast fondue, which was absolutely delicious. Meat was tender and cooked perfectly. The amount was perfect for two people. Would definitely recommend trying this with a friend. We also had one vegetarian and one vegan person in our party, so they shared the vegetable platter and the vegan cheese fondue. They swapped the soda bread for sourdough. My vegetarian friend was pleasantly surprised at how nice the vegan cheese fondue was. The place is a bit rustic but comfortable. The table was a bit wobbly and the water glasses were dirty. We asked for clean one but unf they were just as bad. Service to start with was okay as it was busy when they first opened but a couple of hours later it was difficult to get our waiters attention so we had to grab another staff member and ask to get our plates taken away. We did order more drinks, which we had to ask for again, and when they came, one was the wrong size. But overall, we enjoyed ourselves and were happy we made the trip from Edinburgh for it.

We booked an outside table for desert and had a lovely time. We had s'mores and chocolate fondue, both of which were delicious. The staff were very helpful and friendly and service was excellent. The outside area was heated with comfy cushions and rugs if needed. This is a lovely place to eat.

Great social place with full of positive energy and tasty food. Despite the fact that the place was absolutely full with customers, the staff remained friendly and helpful. A must-visit when in Ashton Lane.

I've been greeted at the door immediately and was taken to our table. Staff is very friendly, they checked upon us regularly during our meal. The portions are huge - we shared a starter between the two of us but it could have just as well been shared by 4 people. A bit on the pricey side but we had a reasonable bill because we shared (although had no dessert as we were full). We've been seated inside next to the heater - it had to be turned down because it was roasting there. It was dimly lit which was a bit dark for my taste but I think other areas were better.
