Had an amazing experience at The Cove. The food is absolutely top tier - rich flavours, proper seasoning, and you can tell everything is cooked fresh. On top of that, the service was great and really added to the whole experience. If you’re looking for authentic, high-quality Indian food in Edinburgh, The Cove is an easy recommendation.

The very name is evocative of a hidden retreat nestling between the rhythmic surf and coconut palms of far away subcontinental oceania and indeed this is a very haven being perhaps the only restaurant in this locale presenting classic Indian dining within a contemporary setting doing justice to the traditions of the former within the relaxed clean simplicity of the later. Such a welcome relief not to mention huge confidence boots to witness upon entering the precise table settings, crisp napkins and table linen so often lacking in many ‘contemporary’ restaurants; here, their soft precision ( not to mention the promise of a disciplined kitchen within and culinary delights yet to come) harmonises and counterpoints the otherwise simple yet purposeful interior dining space. The alert smartly attired staff were all smiles and welcomes and just on the right side of inquisitive and conversational The menu had all the classics ( plus chefs specialities ) yet was not exhaustive, clearly the proprietors follow the maxim of undertaking fewer dishes but to a high standard and so it proved to be; my recommendation: Shatkora Lamb! Come here alone ( as I did this evening ) or with a larger party ( as I have done on previous occasions) and you will find the Cove answers to both the call to quiet reflection and group bonhomie. I thoroughly recommend!

Ordered takeaway last night and the chicken tikka massala was watery and very sweet. Best part of the meal were the poppadoms but at a cost of £1.20 each without accompanying condiments (80p on the restaurant menu) it wasn't worth the value. Disappointing won't be ordering again

A local friend took me to the restaurant and I would love to return. The food was amazing, the price was reasonable and the service was top notch. I went for the tandoori king prawns, which were fresh and well seasoned. We were all pleased with our meals.

Had amazing dinner at The Cove two days in a row during our stay at Edinburgh. We were staying at the Holiday Inn Express City West and given that we had our parents on the trip, we were searching for a good Indian food place this part of town. We saw that The Cove is roughly half a mile away and decided to try it out. What strikes you first about The Cove is the nice and warm nature of the staff. Almost all of them hail from Bangladesh and given our family's connections to that part of Bengal, we bonded immediately. We were initially a bit skeptical about the food but it turned out to be a delicious meal and everyone on the table - my father (who prefers non vegetarian), myself (who prefers egg based meals) and my wife and son (who prefer vegan) liked whatever was served. The atmosphere was nice, warm and cosy and a brilliant setting as the light faded outside at the end of the day! To all Indians and Bangladeshis who visit Edinburgh, we would recommend The Cove. Of course, when we visit again, we will come back for sure!

Delicious food and great service despite the restaurant being busy on an early Saturday evening.

We went there because it was the only restaurant in the area but we werepleasantly surprised. Food was high quality and tasted very good. Personnel was kind and helpful. I would highly recommend to try it.

We ate at the Cove on the last evening of our short break in Edinburgh. It was quite quiet when we visited but the didn't detract from the atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive and the menu had a great selection of classic dishes. We didn't order a starter but our waiter recommended the pakora, so we took his word and added this to our order. I was a little confused when Onion Bhaji arrived. I assumed I had misunderstood, and have to say they were very nice. Our mains arrived in good time and were equally lovely. Our bill arrived, I gave a healthy tip and we left happy. On return to our room I noticed I had been charged for chicken Pakora and not Onion Bhaji or even Vegetable Pakora. I am sure this was just an innocent error. I would easily recommend visiting the Cove as the food was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful. Just thoroughly check your bill before leaving!
