It was Christmas day and we need to eat something. The place was open. The service is friendly but the food is like the cook hates people who enjoy life. It was tasteless and poor quality. The duck seems to have died 5 times. The egg fried rice has no egg. The rice is old. I am sorry but maybe you should find a new cook to have customers returning.

China Star-t looking elsewise. Bland, bog standard place thatโs about as mediocre and pallid as anything a blind person could microwave. Even a basic stir fry of meat, veg and rice was mainly comprised of boiled, sluggy onion with a bit of labial grey anaemic unseasoned animal (unsure which), some odd funky bitterness and rice slightly gritty. They also charge to use your card for under a certain price, which hasnโt been lawful since 2018. Punt for the many decent curry places on the street.

Honestly this cute lil place surprised me. The woman who sat me and took my was lovely. The wan tun (my favorite) was hot and delicious. They have dim sum variances as well. I got the shiu Mai. So good!

On 25th December Xmas day, we had dinner in there. All staffs were very kind as usual. All meals were also very good. Especially, the aromatic crispy duck was very good. We have had sufficient our dinner in there. Thank you!
On 29th August, my wife and I visited here for our Sunday lunch. We took three courses lunch. It was very good as usual. Also staff was so kind and very comfortable restaurant. Looking forward to coming back again soon. Thank you!
On 18th March, I ordered a Takeaway to this China Star Restaurant.
Aromatic Crispy Duck was so nice as usual. They are organising Lunch and Takeaway or Delivery. It was very nice. Owners are also very nice! Thank you for preparing our dinner tonight. My wife and I have had sufficient very much! I Hope from 26th April, we are very looking forward to reopening your restaurant. After reopening, we want to visit again soon.

I work a lot in Edinburgh and always went here for a Chinese meal, very good food if you look pass chips and bbq sauce. Arrived in Edinburgh hungry tonight so I thought why not, China Star.
After the meal I went to pay to be told โCash Only โ, not the end of the world but one of the reasons i liked this place was so I could pay with a company card. Such a shame when any Business goes down the cash only route, always a sign of the end.

The Szechuan fish (ๆฐด็ ฎ้ฑผ) was neither numbing (ๅ) nor spicy (่พฃ), it was starchy. The vegetables (็ฝ่) were good, tasted as expected. Compared to other UK Chinese restaurants, the portions are small for the price. Too starchy for me, skewed towards Cantonese.

The food is terrible. Even if you argue it is British style Chinese food, it is terrible. The soup and boiling fish are horrible. I never had a worse Chinese dinner in Europe like this.
