The best meal out in a very long time. 6 of us booked Saturday lunch, all of us where blown away but the perfectly cooked food, gorgeous setting and wonderful staff. Absolutely fantastic! Highly recommended… we will be back! Thank you so much to the Royal Oak team!
Great place for a Sunday lunch. Menu well thought out and seating very pleasant. Sat by the fire and had good service and atmosphere. Good nibbles- pheasant goujons and battered mushrooms. Large portions of mains. £15 for 3
One of the best Sunday roasts we have had, absolutely delicious. Dog friendly with a warm welcome and table was ready for us when we arrived. Great service and recommendations from the team. Amazing Sunday roast but the appetisers and desserts were delicious to make it a special meal. Highly recommended but make sure you book a table for the roast.
We recently had the summer food and wine tasting here and were absolutely blown away. Every part of the evening felt thoughtfully curated—from the warm, knowledgeable staff to the beautifully balanced menu. What really stood out was the level of care given to every detail. One of our group doesn’t drink alcohol, and rather than offering the usual soft drink alternatives, the team went above and beyond to craft incredible non-alcoholic pairings that felt just as considered as the wines. You can tell how much creativity and precision went into designing the menu and we loved the experience from start to finish. We’ll definitely be returning for the next one!
Very welcoming bar staff who were happy to serve me. I was charged for half a pint for a full pint which I was chuffed about because the barrel had just finished and the inside felt warm. Would recommend!

Had a lovely meal with close friends last night! It was very busy, staff were friendly and helpful, food delicious! Pie and a pint/glass of wine for £15 very good value! Will definitely be back and would highly recommend you book early!
One of the best roasts I’ve had, potatoes and beef were excellent. Yorkshires were a little disappointing but still tasted great. All the staff there are super warm and welcoming
My husband and I enjoyed a really delicious meal here for our anniversary. We had a lovely table tucked round in the little library. The whole team are sooo friendly and inviting from the moment we arrived. We both enjoyed a delicious scotch egg which was cook beautifully followed by Stake , which again was cooked perfectly and sooo tasty. Dessert was Eton-mess, extremely yummy and beautifully present which made it more special. Highly recommended
