I recently visited this restaurant and had a mixed experience. To start with the positives, the food itself was excellent — everything was cooked beautifully, full of flavour, and genuinely enjoyable. The roasts we ordered were particularly tasty, even if they arrived slightly colder than expected. However, there were a few drawbacks that held the experience back. The sides were noticeably expensive for the portion sizes, which felt a bit disappointing given the quality of the main dishes. The atmosphere overall was pleasant, but unfortunately our table was positioned in a busy walkway, meaning a constant stream of people passed by — some even lingering near the table — which made it difficult to fully relax. Service was another issue. Our food took quite a long time to arrive, and when the mains were served, we still hadn’t received our starter. It seemed likely that the mains had been prepared earlier and then reheated or kept warm while the starters were delayed, which may explain why the roasts weren’t as hot as they should have been. In summary, the restaurant delivers fantastic-tasting food, but the service issues and seating arrangement made the experience less enjoyable than it could have been. With some adjustments, it has the potential to be excellent.

Reserved a table on Saturday evening in restaurant just half an hour before we came which was great. Quite full with good atmosphere, but food still came quickly. Particularly loved the mini Sicilian lemon tart... delicious! Friendly servers. Seems like a very popular place with a mix of people eating including families with young kids esp in the bar area. Will definitely come again.

Visited here not too long ago, attended with high hopes after a visit a few years ago impressed I thought it could only get better right? No! Wrong. Ordered some olives with sundries tomato’s with balsamic glaze, and a classic scallops. It was ok starter, scallops were slightly over and lacked any seasoning, just lacked any freshness or punch, was a beautifully plated starter but that’s about it the flavours really lacked. Ordered a surf and turf for my main - with side of mac and cheese. Where to start here - let’s talk about steak, cooked well with an ok sear, but again lack of flavour zero seasoning and certainly not rested and basted…. Which was a shame. Again king prawns on the surf side lacked any seasoning and were slightly over. And the chips well, low grade frozen chunky chips without any seasoning or crisp or fluffy centre….. absolutely shocking imo. Best thing on this dish were the mushrooms, these only thing on plate with flavour and depth. Tried some of the roast lamb with chorizo and again same for this plate, poor flavouring and lack of absolutely everything you want from a plate of food. And don’t get me started on Mac and cheese…. Was this frozen? Certainly don’t feel made fresh, cheese? No chance… flavour… no chance… this is actually worse mac and cheese I’ve ever tried. Can’t even bring myself to describe then poor levels of it… just avoid it. Overall the dishes were plated with style and certainly looked the part, but that’s as far as it goes when comes to it. Lack of seasoning throughout showed, chefs clearly not tasting their products and serving more style than substance here. Such a shame as this was a birthday visit and expected a lot more from such a beautiful restaurant. Best thing here were the olives and that says everything…. Overall I will score this visit 5/10 overall. Really need to up their game here or could be up against. Let’s hope there is change here sooner rather than later.

Appalling food yesterday Sunday 29th June. Melted camembert cheese sharer was cold in the middle we sent it back and got apparently a new one (unlikely) then the mains with sides even worse the pictures say it all, dauphinoise potato were congealed and far from creamy, the mixed vegetables had a inedible hard stalk in it, the tiny piece of pork belly was more fat than meat and cold, the potatoes were uncooked in the middle and more than likely reheated from earlier in the serving. And the to cap it all when ordering drinks on the app a service charge of 10% is added, you can opt out but surely the default should be no service charge but not here!

Came in for a Sunday roast. Yorkshire pudding was a bit dry, but the rest was nice. Very friendly staff. Thank you so much

Cosy pub/restaurant with a warm and welcoming (and festive!) atmosphere. Pros Service was pretty good Atmosphere was good Our party was given a large table Facilties available Free parking on site if you enter your reg into the tablet in the foyer Could improve My tomato soup starter had lots of taste, accompanied by fresh bread and butter. However, main course of brie and mushroom Wellington plus all the trimmings was a bit bland and could have been better seasoned. I could only taste the roasted parsnip. My kids' fish and chips had SO much more flavour in comparison. Pudding of xmas pudding and custard was disappointing: creme Anglaise had zero taste and pud itself didn't have rich multitonal fruit and alcohol flavours like I was longing for. Instead, it tasted just "sweet". Very strange and hard to explain. So glad it wasn't the real event. Others in my party weren't that impressed with the fatty pork belly and scallops (odd combo) or the nut roast. Our conclusion was that it all just needed some more seasoning. Anyway, on balance I would return but would pick something other than the festive menu.

Lovely staff and good menu - the Christmas burger was very good and the beef dripping sauce was instance. Disabled toilets let things down. Could do with a refurb or at least a good in depth clean
