Have used Star many times and always been happy, but last night 20th Dec, don't know what happened but not good. Had pre booked Christmas menu for 7 adults. Took over 40 mins in Carvery queue, when got served Yorkshires flat, lots of veg dishes empty, then person who was carving meats disappeared out back leaving customers behind us wondering what was happening. Worst to come puddings we're still frozen in middle. Many customers who got fed up waiting asked for refund. As I said have used Star in past and have always been happy with service and food, so hoping it was just one of those nights.

I had a bad experience last year (actually to the day) but thought i would give this pub a second chance this festive season! Definitely won't be giving it a 3rd. Went with friends (5 of us) for a festive treat. From beginning to end it was awful. Slow slow slow service. Definitely need more staff. Not a smile in sight. The food was almost inedible. ALL of the veg was rock hard. Very limited choice. Couldn't get a fork in any of it and very tasteless. The meat was amazing but the rest, no thank you! We didn't stay for dessert after being put off by the main. Defo wouldn't recommend

We had our first Christmas party with our new boss's & we had a lovely time waitress called Beth & she had a challenge setting our table. She was on the ball very helpful always polite full of smiles. Hats off to her we were very loud we hope she has a great time working as a waitress it's not the easiest job in the world & I'm sure there are going to be tables that are not as nice as ours. I wish her the best.

Absolutely love this pub. I've been coming to this place for 20 years, my wife and I had our first date here, I proposed to her here and we went back for our 20th anniversary not long ago. The building is lovely with lots of nooks and crannies, fireplaces and beamed ceilings. The staff have changed over the years but now I can say they are lovely. It's always busy at the Star but staff always do thier best. We visited on a Tuesday lunchtime and didn't book but still got a seat. We had a carvery each. My large plate was £11.95 (ish) and I piled my plate up - and managed it all. From the carrots to the cost we were not upset. If you fancy this place it comes highly highly recommended from us. Even just for a pint, it's a yes from us.

Our local pub and the staff are all friendly and hardworking even when the pub does get busy (which it does) The addition of a dartboard and a pool table is brilliant and really adds to the atmosphere. Looking forward to the darts tournaments coming soon. Highly Recommend

Proper old pub with real wooden beams. Food was really good, and great value for money. I had a mini mixed grill, being chicken, gammon, sausages, egg, pineapple, chips, all cooked to perfection and plenty of it! We're coming back for the carvery which also looked superb but we turned up late and just missed it. Drinks were really good too, with a double-up offer on spirits for just £1.50. I would have given 5 stars but another barman butted in to take control of the till for another customer, while I was being served at that till! He kept me waiting for a few minutes with no explanation, before my barman could complete my transaction. None of that seemed necessary, but if there was some urgency (I couldn't see one), a few words to explain would have helped. Otherwise you might be sorting one customer out, but at the expense of another.

I work for the company at different site. But such a nice place. Hands up to Emma who has get customer service skills. If you like a carvery get yourself down there. OH AND THEIR DESSERTS. .

Lovely carvery. Kids friendly. We were a party of 6 plus a toddler with 3 different arrival times, the front of house gentleman was so accommodating with our table. Special thanks to the young lady with the fantastic blue hair. Despite the warm day and hot conditions in the servery she was so friendly and super efficient.

Lovely carvery, staff were lovely. The price was so cheap for the amount of food you get would deffiantly go back again

Great value for money, went twice in a week and always had space and had a nice welcome from the staff. Only downside is lack of children's play area which other nearby pubs have.
