Went there for lunch. Four hour drive there after road closures and delays so treated ourselves to steaks. I Ordered a sirloin from the 2 courses for £18 ish + £6.00. Very disappointing. Arrived as ordered (medium rare) but was tough and grisly. One of our party left almost half due to the gristle and another found it equally tough. Pointless complaining as we would’ve had to wait and we all wanted to eat together. Waiting staff and atmosphere were great but after parting with short of £100 we trudged home feeling less than impressed.

The food is exceptional, the service is outstanding and the atmosphere is good. While there was a brief wait for the food, this was a positive indicator of the restaurant cooking the food from scratch. I enjoyed the pan fried chicken supreme and my friends had the season chicken kebab. For dessert, we had sticky toffee pudding, brownie with custard and apple crumble. The overall experience was superb and I highly recommend the Groes Wen Inn Pub.

Tried this place for Sunday lunch and the food was lovely. Service was great however we waited a little longer for our food than I would expect, but saying that, it was busy.

Just starting our 7 week road trip of North Wales. So glad we chose this establishment as our stopping point for lunch on our first day. Service was friendly and food arrived quickly. Food was delicious and there was a rare two clean plates at the end. Highly recommended.

After a drive up to Brecon we decided to drop in at the Groes Wen Inn for lunch. At first glance you could tell this was going to be an experience. Plenty to choose from on the menu. Main lunches and also a lighter lunch choice if you wish. We both decided to have the Moroccan Lamb let me tell you, it did not disappoint. I started off eating the warm pitta bread with the tzatziki which was beautiful and creamy. The cous cous was a lovely combined with the fruit and nuts but would have better with some moisture added into it. It's harder to eat dry cous cous so I added some of the Moroccan Lamb juices which was perfect. The lamb was tender and succulent and there was plenty of it too. Also the flavours complimented this dish perfectly. I'm not one for olives, but the cooked olives in this dish were a game changer. If you love vegetables this dish was packed full of them, pepper, chickpeas, onion, courgette etc. When ordering even the waiter said it was a good choice. We were seated right infront of the open kitchen, what a view seeing our meal being prepped and ready to serve. Staff were very friendly and prompt when ordering drinks. The restaurant was almost full when we entered around 14:30pm. All the plates were empty when other customers left the restaurant. I only wish I had the fruit platter for afters as it looked colourful and delicious when it was placed on the table seated next to us. We will be returning customers and if you haven't been, it's a must. Expect lighter lunches from £8.95 and maine lunches from £15.95 The Moroccan Lamb was £18.95 and worth every penny. That little pot is not that little when you start tucking into it.

Took advantage of their January offer for lunch from £5. The food was really good, the surroundings gorgeous and the staff were happy and welcoming. I particularly liked the coffee with mini desert. The coffee was lovely and strong and the mini desert was just enough.

Sarah and her team manage a great public house, part of the vintage inns group, the menu is very good. I recommend the fish and chips, and lasagne. The Christmas decorations are very well trimmed. Worthy of a visit.
