   Disappointing and inflexible service. At 1pm, in a largely empty café, the owner (who was also the chef) refused to allow two tables to be moved together for our party. One member of our group is elderly and extremely unwell and had walked over 20 minutes with a walking aid to get there. Despite this, there was no willingness to accommodate us in any way. The refusal was justified as “café policy,” yet no explanation was given as to why such a rigid rule was enforced when space was clearly available. The manner in which this was handled was rude, dismissive, and showed a complete lack of basic courtesy or consideration for age or health. Hospitality is about more than food — it’s about people. Sadly, that seems to be lost here. We were left with no choice but to leave. I would not recommend this café, particularly to families, elderly customers, or anyone expecting reasonable flexibility or kindness.

   This has become one of my favorite cafes in all of Edinburgh. The staff are SO friendly and helpful. They're quick and efficient. I come here more than I'd like to admit for their treats. The Marlenka walnut and honey cake is to die for. Their sundaes are also absolutely amazing. I usually get a cappuccino, Cesar salad, and a sweet treat. I always feel so welcome every time I come here and I'm going to miss this cafe when our vacation is over.

   Having lived near the cafe, it is always my go to place for coffees and breakfasts. The place is spacious and comfortable, and the service always maintains a decent pace. I have tried their whole menu at this point and don't have much to complain about. The Salmon Breakfast and the Sausages with Mash are two of my favourite orders. If you have a sweet tooth, try one of their Marlenkas, or if visiting on a hot day, the milkshakes are worth a try. The staff is the friendliest I have seen, and makes for an overall pleasant experience. A shout out to Ola, Pat and Leigh for being great hosts.
