The cakes we had here were awful. We got two tiny cakes for £8, it was as though they’d been cut into thirds and they weren’t close to a full size portion. It was incredibly dry and floury and tasted as though it had been baked 3/4 days prior. We ate one in a few bits and threw the second into the bin. Would not try any other cakes

Enjoyed a lovely lunch. Friendly, helpful staff who made us welcome. The food was freshly prepared to order so took a few minutes but not too long and worth it. The veggie breakfast was delicious, especially the mushrooms and haggis. The hot wrap, soup and scone were also really good. We took cakes away with us as they looked so good and enjoyed them later. Nice place to enjoy lunch.

I came to The Village Cafe after a bad experience at a different nearby cafe where after 45 minutes I never received my food. Needless to say, when I arrived at The Village Cafe I was absolutely starving. It was packed but there were 2 tables outside. Despite it being windy and 9 degrees, it was at least sunny so I asked if I could sit outside. The server who greeted me was outgoing and friendly and asked if I had been served. I told her no and asked to sit outside. She replied something to the effect that it was a bit cold outside and she was sure they could get me a table inside. Within minutes a table was free and I quickly ordered the cheeseburger. My food came out maybe 10 minutes later. It was delicious. Being American, I’m a bit of a burger snob. The burger was juicy, the chips were crispy, the salad was fresh. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Really lovely neighbourhood cafe. Will be back and hopefully have room to try some of their cakes. :)

Fantastic local place. Really friendly staff, obscene collection of cakes. Had full scottish, morning roll, milkshakes and flat white. No picture of the breakfast too good had to eat it. Price and portions sizes are excellent. They don't skip on quality either obviously excellent local produce used. Proper flat white as well double shot and milk none of this milk with a hint of coffee nonsense. Got cake to go as well naturally ☺ Locals and lots of people coming for morning rolls. Dog friendly even better Jura got a sausage! Excellent place. Will be back for sure.
