I’m attaching a picture of my previous review so anyone can see this comes from a genuine place. I used to love this cafe, it was one of the best in Morningside. I was in today for the first time in maybe 8 months because of a poor experience last time and today my experience was terrible. The two girls working today are both are in dire need of some training. Neither acknowledged us when we came in, one was on their phone and the other was going on a break. The girl who took our order didn’t know the menu or how to work the till properly. Honestly this could be forgiven, everyone has to learn and I have a lot of patience. The main issue was her attitude was terrible, that cannot be forgiven. Once we ordered our food came out in a sporadic order one person at a time which meant two of the party had almost finished their food by the time the third person’s food had come out. We had to go back up and ask for butter and a knife for the bread that came with a soup both times we were given bad attitude. Once all the food had come out we eventually received our drinks. The cafe was quite dirty, tables weren’t cleaned and the walls are covered in black marks. The bathroom hadn’t been cleaned and was a mess. I really wish I wasn’t writing this. I loved this cafe and have frequented fairly regularly over the last 7 years but it’s been steadily going downhill. Today I’m afraid was the last straw, we won’t be back.

When I went i got given a pretty acceptable but not fantastic flat white. The staff were friendly. To my suprise the chef came out the front and began blowing up a very thick ballon, it began to consume the whole room! I got pushed against the wall by the force of the inflation what a breath this fella had. I thank god every third and a half day that I finshed my coffee before this supernatural event. Extremely unique experience would ask staff if it is ballon day before going if elderly or sick

If I could give zero stars I would. Visited a couple weeks back. Cafe was unclean, staff were just standing around looking bored , I had to move the cups and plates from the table I wanted to sit at. ( while staff just stood there.) Table and seats and floor felt sticky . Bathroom had no soap and hadn’t been cleaned very well. Waited a while for the food , the food was cold when I received it. I don’t like confrontation and have autism so I didn’t feel like I could tell them, the staff were very unfriendly and blunt with me. Just not a good experience. Don’t bother coming here.

Not sure why this cafe is having 1 star ratings that look like spammed or fake but this is our own experience: The staffs are very friendly and welcoming. The place is relaxing, spacious, and I can see other customers with or without kids actually enjoying the place. I also see some customers busy with their laptops and are taking their time, peacefully minding their own business while in this place. We tried tuna melt ciabatta and chicken tikka mozzarella ciabatta, cappuccino and dirty chai latte for brunch. In my own opinion, 1 serving is probably good for two people. So pricing is reasonable for the great plate! ☺️ I hope the owner and the staffs will read this review, don’t be affected by the said seem to be fake 1 star reviews, and keep up the good work! Thank you! ⭐️❤️

Had a great bite to eat and a coffee here on a brief visit to Edinburgh. The sandwich was fresh and lovely, the soup was great too. Even the cappuccino came with actual flakes of chocolate rather than the fake dust you get at other places. The staff are great too! Would recommend!

Don’t listen to the 1 star reviews. This place is so lovely and was so busy when we went for breakfast on Tuesday morning. It just shows how good it is when so many people go. Really nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The pancakes and maple syrup were lovely. Enjoyed the tablet (fudge) with my tea too thank you!

Love this cafe! It’s a privately owned and non-commercialised place to visit for fresh and great quality food and delicious coffee. I also love that they give a named person a free coffee every day. But I like that it serves good coffee and a friendly warm vibe.

I was just searching for Leaf & Bean for a possible afternoon tea gift for my mum and I saw the ratings. I've been here before and it no way deserves any one star reviews. I didn't even realise it is possible to spam negative reviews - but these clearly are. Staff are always friendly and the food in lovely.

Expensive, smelly and cold. Drinking your coffee with jacket on spoils the experience. It smells of fried food as there is no ventilation. Staff is great though.

Popped in for a latte when I was waiting on an appointment. Warm place with welcoming staff. Ordered the latte at the counter and they bring it to your seat. Nice place with nice atmosphere.
