Expensive food which is to be expected but staff all miserable looks like they all really hate there jobs. Zoo is fantastic just remember to bring your own lunch!
very poor service. waited 8 minutes for 2 takeaway coffees , when i was the only person there, due to staff chatting at the machine. when i asked the female staff member on the machine about the order she was rude and sarcastic. disappointing.
Great day out at Edinburgh zoo then ruined by awful food by this cafe. I ordered a kids box & soup with a bread roll, the bread roll was in a paper bag & it beyond hard & stale, the soup was put in to a plastic cup, wooden utensils, when I asked for a proper spoon the server looked at me like I had 5 heads. The kids box was disgusting the sandwich was brick hard and they don't even get to pick the crisps or sweetie that's in them, £21 wasted, it all went in the bin. Staff need to improve their attitude.
Shame about the bad reviews. Me and my partner really enjoyed it and it's the best cafe we have been to for any zoo's we have visited. My partner ordered a Bacon Roll - it was cooked fresh and was £3 which we thought was a good price. I had Scone which had butter and TipTree Jam, I was given it on a plate in a bag which was great as I could then choose when to have to during the day without it making a mess. There were Plain scones and fruit scones which was great as I prefer plain. This was just under £3 and the scone was a good size. Ordered a drink as well. We had around a 5 - 8 minute wait which we didn't mind at all especially as they were so busy. Lots of choices and would go back!
We arrived at 1pm and by about 3 pm we were hungry so we looked around the zoo to find that only this cafe was open the only one open. We went in and the queue was huge the prices were extremely high, no signs to say what was in kids meal or soup. More than half the food was not available The toasties were not fully cooked and the scones were not warmed and tasted terrible. Avoid! £22 for 2 toasties, 2 bags of crisps, a scone and a coffee!
Disappointing for price. Charged us for expensive soup and roll. Provided soup but not roll, as run out. Waitress claimed she had explained, but definitely had not.
Huge potential but needs new management I think
Food is expensive as expected its a captive audience, staff are nice enough however the whole place is dirty, all the tables left a complete mess, had to find the blue roll and spray down our table before sitting down which after paying a service charge to sit in feels a bit harsh. Alongside this the toilets echo the general theme of the place too!
Penguin cafe was simple cv19 rules in and out, no seating area usable Which is understandable Would of liked to see more food signs or easily visible what was a available After i was served then saw pasties, and toastie and bacon rolls etc Only over head what the pasties were from other members So maybe help sales more add a couple more signs We have a couple hot drinks and 2 cakes I did like my bakewell tart
