   I write this because I have just had the best (delux) bacon roll at the M&S cafe in the Gyle. This cafe always appears to be busy but you always get a seat. Back to food. The absolutely brilliant smoked streaky, loads of it, no skimping, served on toasted ciabatta roll was really great. Think I might go for another tomorrow. I asked a supervisor if the food shop sold that brand of bacon and was sold that it was only supplied to Marks hospitality outlets. BooHoo.

   Really Disappointing Experience Tried to go into the M&S Café this morning and was stopped at the door because I had an external coffee with me. I explained I was about to order two full breakfasts plus sides, but they still refused to let me in unless I binned my drink. Absolutely ridiculous rule. For a bit of context, I just don’t like their coffee. As a consumer, that’s perfectly okay. I was still choosing to spend money on food, but apparently that doesn’t matter. A little bit of common sense and customer service would’ve gone a long way.

   Good coffee and good scones. Very slow queues. The room is dreadfully clattery - what a racket!!! It sounds like the worst school dinner hall you can imagine.

   Good coffee which is prepared quickly and a decent breakfast and lunch menu that’s very well priced. We had the veggie breakfast each which was only £9.50 and very filling. The atmosphere is as expected - loud and echoey and busy but it is a supermarket cafe.

   After seeing it on Tik Tok, had to come for the viral Christmas toastie with gravy to dip in. It was very tasty and did not disappoint. The Colin hot chocolate was even better and will definitely return in future. Only 4 stars at it reminded me of a canteen
