I was in the shop on the afternoon of Mon 27th March. Well, the second member of staff I dealt with (younger chap, dark hair, black shirt) was pleasant, efficient, knowledgeable and useful, and generally behaved as you would expect somebody working in retail to do when dealing with a customer. The first one, however (older chap, short, chunky, grey hair, wearing a red shirt) treated me to a rather poor rendition of the Not The Nine O'Clock News sketch about buying a gramophone... except without any apparent technical knowledge to back up his ridiculousness. So, for example, there are apparently two types of compression joint which he wanted me to choose between, but when I asked what the difference was he couldn't give me an answer, and eventually said "well, some plumbers prefer one and some prefer the other...", and then refused to sell me either when I said that since my plumber hadn't specified which, it didn't matter... He also said "No such thing as a Y connector", which surprised me, since I had seen one attached to my sink only the previous day... This is the point at which the younger chap rescued me and actually fetched the stuff I wanted to buy...
