Popped into Whisky and Wine recently and was not disappointed. The range of Whisky was very impressive as was the range of glasses and decanters. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable too.
The service was great. The staff was knowledgeable. The samples of whisky helped solidify a pricy but unique bottle. The guys were also funny and very confident in their suggestions. It was a win all around. I get to go back to Canada with something special that you can’t get there.
Fantastic selection of spirits. Stuart was very helpful in helping us find a bottle of scotch that we had been searching for.
Friendly staff, helped me choose some whisky I have not had before and let me know i can send some bottles home to Belfast too. Great selection and great conversation about the whisky as well. Would recomend calling in if you get the chance!
Very disappointed with this place after I realized that the whisky they sold me was more than 20-30 pounds of market range. He told me the whisky I’m buying is very unique and I cannot find it anywhere. After doing a very simple google research I saw that I was cheated again. Sad to see such a vendor in this lovely city full of tourists.
Pure tourist trap. Took clear advantage of my daughter trying to shop for me. Sold her a terrible bottle of whisky and made her feel like they weren’t even trying to help when she was there. Basically just “you have this to spend, take this bottle”. Places like this should come with a rip off warning.
Started off talking to one person who seemed sincere. Nice conversation. Then a man came to the counter and took over. Started sampling out some of the nastiest stuff. He kept telling me that I wanted a sweeter whiskey when I said absolutely not. The whiskies he sampled were harsh but he kept giving pleasant descriptions. I don’t have well defined taste but he expected I didn’t have any. When I tried to get away just to browse alone, suddenly he tells me they’re closed. I’m glad I read these other reviews. I wasn’t even sure why I was left so angry, but I think it was justified. Trust yourself and don’t get swindled.
So glad we found this place! We had been to a few whisky shops in the area but couldn't quite find what we wanted. The prices are exactly the same as every whisky shop in Edinburgh. The man behind the counter was friendly and chatty. He recommended a whisky at the price we wanted and also showed us one we couldn't get as easily back home in Liverpool. He even allowed us to taste a drop so we knew what we were getting! We bought a lovely bottle of Highland Scotch and some glasses as well. I absolutely adore the tiny (about 1") bottles they sell there as well.
Great customer service, lovely chap, was very happy to give us tasters of several different gins. Great selection of gins, reasonably priced, given the area. Purchased three bottles, from recommendation, and taste. Thank you, we will revisit, if in the area again.
It was the display in the shop window that made us go in. The shop has a a very large selection of whiskeys, malt drinks and wines, cigars and accessories. The place is warm and inviting plus the background music is pretty cool. Staff extremely knowledgeable and very welcoming.
