Wayy overpriced (£20+ markup over shops nearby). Only reviewing because a very rude staff member insulted me and my wife repeatedly when we asked about a specific whiskey, saying we were "crazy" and "foolish" for liking it, and got genuinely angry with us when we weren't interested in the more "exclusive" (read:expensive) bottles he wanted us to buy. He even yelled a last insult as we exited the store. High-pressure sales tactics and even higher prices, the only such experience we've had here. Please avoid, and go enjoy one of the many delightful spots just down the street!

service wasn't great as mentioned by the other comments. I needed to buy a bottle but other bottle shops were close at that time - just know that you're paying on average £20 extra per bottle.

This was a great experience! We found this shop while touring Edinburgh and the staff was very helpful in finding a local whisky that we enjoyed! We got to sample it before buying and are excited to get it home to drink! Thank you, Whisky Trail for the lovely time!

I was in my trip to Scotland and I hence I visited Edinburgh…. Here I came across this shop - I entered just due to curiosity but here I found more than 300+ variations of normal and premium whiskeys….: there were finest wines, gin, vodka and rum too… they also had the soft drinks on sales. They did have the premium Cuban cigars too….. Their collection was outstanding … they had the small hip flasks, kitchen rings in shape of hip flasks, other liquor related accessories like cork lid, the bottle opener, wine and whiskey glasses, etc. the shop keeper also showed us everything so enthusiastically.. if you are alcohol lover then this is the must place to visit….

Scammed shop. Overprice. Lied about exclusive whisky. Avoid this shop. Go try whisky at a nice pub and then find a way to buy them in shop. Btw lot of choice on the dutyfree area at Edinburgh airport.

Dishonest and overpriced tourist trap - taking advantage of naive tourists. Avoid. The guy behind the counter seemed nice enough, let me taste a couple of whiskies and convinced me into buying a bottle of Finlaggan. After exiting the shop I googled this brand and found I had bought a cheap whisky for almost double the price as other retailers. Also the whisky from the bottle I bought tasted completely different from the sample I tasted at the shop. So - clearly the worst experience during our Scotland visit.

VERY VERY over priced! They are selling some bottles at almost double their market price. They are also happy to let you think you're buying a very special bottle, but just with a quick bit of googling is just a standard scotch you can get off Amazon for a third of half less. Nice experience to look around, but really not worth buying anything other than a souvenir to be honest. Tourist trap of ever I have seen one.

Quite a selection, but agree with other reviews that the pricing is a bit steep. It is in a very touristy area though so it is to be expected. I thought the staff was friendly, and enjoyed popping in and perusing the offerings. If beer and whiskey are your drinks of choice, you will enjoy checking out spots like this. But if serious about buying a bottle, I would do some real shopping around and seek out the best deals.

The tradition of whiskey in Scotland is something very serious. This shop has a wide variety of scottish whiskeys and with a very cordial service, ready to explain the details, characteristics, make indications, very cordial and friendly. Without doubt a great place for those who like to drink and enjoy good products.
